Preface

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 6753.4-1998 "Paints and varnishes - Determination of flow time using a flow cup". In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows. a) The scope has been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.1998 edition); b) The definitions of dynamic viscosity and irregular flow have been deleted (see Chapter 3 of the.1998 edition); c) Added the definition of non-Newtonian flow (see Chapter 3); d) The temperature conditions have been changed (see Chapter 4, Chapter 4 of the.1998 edition); e) Increased the measuring range of the outflow cup (see 5.1.5); f) Changed the accuracy requirements for stopwatches or other applicable timers (see 5.2.5; 5.2.5 of the.1998 edition); g) Added the identification of test results (see Chapter 8); h) The precision requirements have been changed (see Chapter 9, Chapter 8 of the.1998 edition); i) Changed "Use the dispensing cup to adjust the viscosity of the paint" to "Check the wear of the dispensing cup" and modified the corresponding technical content (See Appendix A, Appendix A of the.1998 edition). 1 Scope

This document describes a method for determining the flow time of paints, varnishes and related products, which can be used to monitor viscosity. This document specifies four types of outflow cups with similar dimensions and outflow apertures of 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm, and provides Two methods for checking discharge cup wear (see Appendix A). This document does not cover outlet cups with replaceable outlet orifices, as the cup body to which the outlet orifice is mounted does not meet the tolerance requirements. This document does not cover commonly used immersion discharge cups. NOTE. Since the manufacturing tolerances of this type of outflow cup are greater than those specified in this document, the accuracy of outflow time obtained using an immersed outflow cup is low. The accuracy of the outflow time obtained using the outflow cups specified in this document (see Chapter 9) is the basis for the accuracy of the outflow time obtained using the outflow cups specified in this document (see Chapter 9). The method described in this document is applicable to test materials for which the breakpoint of the flow from the outflow hole of the outflow cup can be accurately determined. Due to the influence of the response, for materials with outflow time close to the upper limit of the test range (100s), the breakpoint is difficult to determine and reproduce.
