1 Scope
This document describes the method for the determination of the wax, pectin, water-soluble matter, hemicellulose, lignin and cellulose content of hemp fiber.
This document applies to the detection of chemical composition of hemp fiber.

4 Principle
Taking advantage of the different reactions of various components in hemp fiber to different chemical reagents, the fat wax, pectin, water-soluble matter, hemicellulose and other substances in hemp fiber samples were analyzed.
Cellulose, lignin and cellulose are extracted or separated one by one, and quantitatively analyzed by gravimetric analysis to obtain the chemical compositions of hemp fiber.

5 Reagents or materials
Unless otherwise stated, all reagents used in this method were of analytical grade.
5.1 Sodium carbonate, content ≥ 99.8%, CAS No. 497-19-8.
5.2 Sodium hydroxide, content ≥ 96.0%, CAS No. 1310-73-2.
5.3 Anhydrous calcium chloride, content ≥96.0%, CAS No. 10043-52-4.
5.4 Barium chloride, content ≥99.0%, CAS No. 10361-37-2.
5.5 n-Hexane, content ≥97.0%, CAS No. 110-54-3.
5.6 Glacial acetic acid. content ≥ 99.5%, CAS No. 64-19-7.
5.7 Concentrated sulfuric acid. content is 95.0%~98.0%, CAS number 7664-93-9.
5.8 Sodium carbonate-sodium hydroxide aqueous solution. a mixed solution with a mass fraction of 2% sodium carbonate and 0.16% sodium hydroxide.
Dissolve 10 g of sodium carbonate (5.1) and 0.8 g of sodium hydroxide (5.2) in water and make up to 500 mL.
