Ships and marine technology receive fuel quality on board
Flow meter requirements
1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements for Coriolis Mass Flow Meters (MFM) systems installed on board ships for measuring the flow of incoming fuel.
This document specifies the metrological, safety and testing requirements for the MFM system on the receiving ship. This document is a revision of ISO 8217, ISO 22192 and OIMLR117.
Replenish.
This document does not apply to mass flow meters for fuel transfer, nor to the entire bunkering operation, such as the bunkering system as a whole and the delivery system.
This document does not apply to cryogenic fuels such as liquefied natural gas.
For Coriolis mass flow meter systems used in fuel transfer, refer to ISO 22192.
2 Normative references
This document has no normative references.
3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Filling the bunker
Refilling bunker fuel
Class F fuel oil provided for ship propulsion and/or operation.
Note. For the specifications of Class F fuel oil, see ISO 8217.
3.2
Mass flow meter mass flow meter; MFM
Equipment used to directly measure and display the quality of fuel oil (3.1) being bunkered on board a ship.
3.3
The maximum stress to which a piping system component may be subjected based on materials and design calculations.
3.4
Maximum mass flow rate
Maximum measurement value of an MFM system (3.5) that meets the measurement accuracy requirements.
Note. The maximum value is generally determined based on the application.
3.5
MFMsystem
Fuel oil bunkering (3.1) metering system, comprising a mass flow meter (3.2) and its accessories, a connection between the ship's fuel tank main pipe and the mass flow meter
Pipes and seals.
