Introduction
As a mobile structure at sea, ships have high requirements for the reliability and safety of their piping systems. International Maritime Organization IMOA.753(18)
The Guidelines for the Application of Plastic Pipes on Board Ships and the Maritime Safety Committee Resolution IMOMSC.313(88) on the Guidelines for the Application of Plastic Pipes on Board Ships
The Amendment provides systematic guidance on the design and selection of marine plastic piping systems and becomes the basic standard for classification societies to conduct product certification.
However, due to the application location of shipboard pipelines, the medium they transport, and the role or potential impact on the safe operation of ships, there are
Therefore, in order to meet the special needs of marine pipelines, the plastic pipes are used to
Advantages, it is necessary to correctly select plastic pipes according to product characteristics, working environment and application conditions in accordance with this document.
Whether a piping system is “important” depends on the medium it transports, the operating conditions and the location on board where it is installed.
"System" refers to those pipeline systems that will not contribute to other accidents and cause greater disasters when they are damaged, and are not easily affected by other accidents.
Polyethylene piping systems in other places with special requirements other than fire resistance and conductivity, such as ballast piping systems and domestic hot and cold water piping systems.
The above restrictions on polyethylene pipe systems are mainly due to the fact that polyethylene materials themselves do not have the fire resistance, smoke suppression and conductivity required by IMOA.753.
The polyethylene pipes and fittings specified in this document are allowed to be laminated, coated or otherwise protected according to IMOA.753.
Plastic pipes are used to protect the pipes, so that the pipes installed on site meet the requirements of fire resistance, smoke suppression, conductivity, etc., but these measures can have different materials
It is difficult to form a unified product standard for the time being. This document does not involve these protection contents.
Some of the performance indicators of polyethylene pipes and fittings specified in this document have a certain correspondence with the indicators specified in IMOA.753.
However, due to different terms and conventions, the Chinese and English versions of these indicators do not strictly correspond to each other. Table 1 lists their correspondence.

Although the purpose of this document is to evaluate polyethylene pipes and fittings for marine use, production and inspection according to this document are
The test cannot replace other certification projects carried out by classification societies in accordance with their industry specifications and actual needs.
The publication of this document may lead to the formation of other marine plastic pipe product standards in the future.
Marine plastic piping system polyethylene (PE) pipes
and pipe fittings
1 Scope
This document specifies the materials, classification, size, bursting pressure and hydrostatic strength of marine polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings.
The requirements for physical and mechanical properties, system applicability, etc. are described, and the corresponding test methods are specified, as well as the inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage.
Require.
This document is applicable to the working temperature not higher than 60℃, the maximum working pressure (MOP) not greater than 1.6MPa, and installed in the ship's ballast water
Non-important piping systems in tanks, open decks, tanks, empty spaces, tunnels and guide holes, including ballast water piping systems, domestic water piping systems and grey and black water piping systems.
The piping system specified in this document is not suitable for places with requirements such as fire resistance, smoke suppression and conductivity.
Note. It is the responsibility of the relevant parties to appropriately select the products specified in this document based on specific application requirements in combination with relevant laws, regulations, standards and specifications.
