Soil Quality Organic Carbon Content in Soil and Biological Samples
and carbon isotope ratio, total nitrogen content and nitrogen isotope
Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry
1 Scope
This document describes the determination of soil and biological samples (plants,
The method of organic carbon content and carbon isotope ratio, total nitrogen content and nitrogen isotope ratio in animals, microorganisms).
This document is applicable to the determination of organic carbon and total nitrogen in soil and biological samples, as well as non-marker (natural abundance) and tracer tests.
Determination of carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios of organic carbon and total nitrogen in soil and biological samples tested (f13C≤30%, f15N≤30%).
This document determines the quantitative limits of organic carbon, total nitrogen content and carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios in soil and biological samples (in terms of absolute carbon and nitrogen).
Carbon 30μg; Nitrogen 20μg.

3.1
isotope
Different atoms of the same element with the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons (or different mass numbers).
3.2
isotope ratio isotoperatio
The ratio of the number of moles or atoms or ions of two isotopes.
3.3
isotope abundance
The percentage of isotope atomic number in the element's total atomic number.
Note. The isotopic abundance is expressed in percentage (%).
3.4
isotopic composition isotopecomposition
The proportion of each isotope in an element expressed in atomic percentage, and their sum is equal to 1.
