1 Scope
This document describes a method for the determination of formaldehyde emissions from wooden toys.
This document applies to accessible wood-based panel materials in wooden toys.
The limit of quantification of this method is 5 mg/kg.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
wooden toys woodentoys
Toys made from natural materials such as wood, bamboo, or synthetic wood.
3.2
wood-based panels
Using wood or non-wood plant fiber materials as the main raw material, processed into various material units, with (or without) adhesives and other additives
Sheets or shaped products made of additives.

4 Principles
Hang the test piece of known mass above the water in the airtight container and keep a constant temperature, and the formaldehyde released by the test piece will be absorbed by the water within a certain period of time.
Absorption, the formaldehyde content in water was determined by acetylacetone spectrophotometry, and the test results were expressed in mg/kg.
5 Reagents
5.1 Unless otherwise specified, use only analytical grade reagents. The water is grade 3 water in accordance with GB/T 6682.
