1 Scope
This document describes the principles, reagents and materials, equipment, test procedures, test data processing, and methods for determining ammonia content in cosmetics.
Recovery rate, precision, etc.
This document is applicable to the determination of ammonia content added in the form of ammonia gas or ammonia in cosmetics such as hair dye products and perm products.
This document does not apply to products added with ammonium raw materials (except cetrimonium chloride and stearyl trimethyl ammonium chloride).
The detection limit of ammonia (calculated as NH3) in this document is 0.1%, and the limit of quantification is 0.2%.

3 Terms and definitions

4 Principle
After the sample is treated with barium chloride, it is extracted with methanol, filtered or centrifuged, and the filtrate (or supernatant) is heated and distilled under alkaline conditions and evaporated
The ammonia is collected in the boric acid absorption solution and titrated with a standard hydrochloric acid titration solution.
5 Reagents and materials
Unless otherwise specified, only use analytical reagents.
5.1 Ammonia-free water is prepared in accordance with GB/T 603.
5.2 Methanol.
5.3 Barium chloride solution (25g/100mL). Weigh 25g of barium chloride, add water to dissolve and dilute to 100mL.
5.4 Magnesium oxide.
5.5 Boric acid solution (20g/L). Weigh 20g of boric acid, add water to dissolve and dilute to 1000mL.
5.6 Hydrochloric acid standard titration solution (0.1mol/L). prepared and calibrated in accordance with GB/T 601, or commercially available reagents can be purchased.
5.7 Methyl red ethanol solution (1g/L). Weigh 0.1g of methyl red, dissolve it in 95% ethanol, dilute with 95% ethanol to 100mL, at room temperature

5.8 Bromocresol green ethanol solution (1g/L). Weigh 0.1g of bromocresol green, dissolve it in 95% ethanol, dilute with 95% ethanol to 100mL,
