1 Scope
This document specifies the principles, reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, test procedures, and methods for determining trichloroacetic acid in cosmetics by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
Result calculation and precision.
This document is applicable to the determination of trichloroacetic acid in lotions, creams and emulsion cosmetics.

4 Principle
The sample is extracted with methyl tert-butyl ether under acidic conditions.
Trichloroacetic acid is formed into ethyl trichloroacetate, extracted with n-hexane, injected into a gas chromatography-mass spectrometer for analysis, and quantified by external standard method.
5 Reagents and materials
Unless otherwise stated, only use analytical reagents.
5.1 Water, GB/T 6682, level one.
5.2 Ethanol (C2H6O), chromatographically pure.
5.3 n-hexane (C6H14), chromatographically pure.
5.4 Methyl tert-butyl ether (C5H12O), chromatographically pure.
5.5 Sulfuric acid (H2SO4).
5.6 Sodium chloride (NaCl), bake in a muffle furnace at 450°C for 2h~3h before use, and store in a desiccator.
5.7 Anhydrous sodium sulfate (Na2SO4), bake in a muffle furnace at 450°C for 2h~3h before use, and store in a desiccator.
5.8 Standard trichloroacetic acid, purity not less than 99.0%, CAS number. 76-03-9.
5.9 Standard stock solution of trichloroacetic acid, 1.0mg/mL. accurately weigh 0.1g (accurate to 0.0001g) of the standard trichloroacetic acid (5.8)
In a 100mL volumetric flask, dissolve and dilute to the mark with ethanol (5.2). Trichloroacetic acid standard stock solution is stored at -18℃, storage period
6 months.
5.10 Trichloroacetic acid standard working solution. Dilute the trichloroacetic acid standard stock solution (5.9) with ethanol (5.2) to a series of mass concentrations
Standard working solutions of 0.50μg/mL, 1.0μg/mL, 2.0μg/mL, 5.0μg/mL, 10.0μg/mL are currently used.
