1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements and procedures for sterilization of dogs and cats.
This document is suitable for practicing veterinarians to perform sterilization operations on dogs and cats.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Sterilization operation
Surgery to remove the testicles of male dogs and male cats and the ovaries and uterus of female dogs and female cats, so that the dogs and cats lose their ability to reproduce.
4 Preoperative preparation
4.1 Health Check
The following checks should be carried out.
---Investigation of medical history;
---Measurement of physiological indicators of body temperature, heart rate and respiratory rate;
---Tests of blood biochemistry, blood routine, coagulation indicators, etc.;
--- Male dogs and cats check the size and number of testes in the scrotum to confirm the presence or absence of cryptorchidism.
4.2 Sign anesthesia and surgery agreement
An anesthesia and surgery agreement should be signed before surgery, and the risks that may occur during anesthesia and surgery and prognosis should be informed.
4.3 Fasting
Adult dogs and cats should be fasted for 6h~12h before surgery, and young dogs and cats should be fasted for 4h~8h before surgery. Water is not required before surgery.
4.4 Equipment and articles
The following equipment items should be prepared before surgery.
