1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods and sampling inspection procedures for aluminum and aluminum alloy water-washed and no-clean chromium-free chemical conversion coatings.
This standard applies to chromium-free chemical conversion coatings for extruded aluminum and aluminum alloy parts, profiles, coils, plates and cast aluminum alloy parts.
The chromium-free chemical conversion coating can be used as an anti-corrosion layer alone or as the bottom layer of an organic coating (such as paint, rubber, adhesive).

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in GB/T 3138 apply to this document.
3.1
Conversion coating
A surface covering layer containing a base metal compound formed by a chemical or electrochemical process.
3.2
Chemical conversion coating
The base metal reacts with the conversion solution to form a surface covering layer containing the base metal compound.
3.3
Chromium-free chemical conversion coating
A chemical conversion film formed by a conversion solution that does not contain chromium (hexavalent, trivalent).
3.4
Washable chromium-free chemical conversion coating
After the conversion treatment, the chromium-free chemical conversion coating needs to be washed with water and then dried.
Note. This type of conversion film is generally used in extruded aluminum products and cast aluminum parts.
3.5
No-clean chromium-free chemical conversion coating
After the conversion treatment, no water washing is required, and a dry chromium-free chemical conversion coating is directly applied.
Note 1.This special conversion film is generally used for thin aluminum plates that are immediately coated or coated with adhesives.
