3.1
Storm surge
Local sea surface vibrations caused by strong winds and sudden changes in air pressure accompanying the transit of tropical cyclones, temperate weather systems, maritime squall lines, etc.
Fluctuation or non-periodical abnormal increase (decrease) phenomenon.
Note. The phenomenon of local sea surface oscillation or non-periodic abnormal increase in storm surge is called storm water increase, referred to as water increase; local sea surface oscillation or non-periodic abnormality in storm surge
The reduction phenomenon is called storm water reduction, or water reduction for short.
[GB/T 19721.1-2017, definition 3.1]
3.2
Maximum storm surge
The maximum value of the hourly increase in water during a storm surge is also called the maximum storm increase.
[GB/T 19721.1-2017, definition 3.2]
3.3
Alert tide level
A kind of tide level threshold. When the tide level reaches this threshold, there may be dangerous situations along the coast, which must be put on alert to prevent the occurrence of tide disasters.
[GB/T 19721.1-2017, definition 3.3]
3.4
Storm surge intensity
The magnitude of the largest storm surge during a storm surge.
3.5
Storm surge
The possible disaster degree of storm surge is calculated and divided by storm surge intensity and high tide level over-alert degree.
