3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Peroxide value
Ip
The amount of peroxide that can react with sodium thiosulfate in the sample is expressed in millimoles of active oxygen contained in 1000g of sample.
4 Method summary
The sample is immersed in the mixed solution of chloroform/acetic acid, the peroxide dissolved in the solution reacts with the excess potassium iodide solution to generate iodine, and sulfur
Titrate with sodium titrate standard titration solution to calculate the peroxide value of the sample.
5 Reagents and materials
Warning --- Chloroform is a volatile solvent. In order to avoid possible poisoning of the reagents, please protect and keep the experiment personnel in use.
Good ventilation.
Unless otherwise specified, the reagents used are of analytical grade, and the experimental water should meet the requirements of secondary water specified in GB/T 6682.
5.1 Chloroform. superior grade pure.
5.2 Acetic acid. pure grade.
5.3 Chloroform/acetic acid mixed solution. Mix according to the volume ratio of 2. 3.
5.4 Saturated potassium iodide solution. 14g potassium iodide, add 10mL of water to dissolve, ensure that there are insoluble crystals, sealed and protected from light.
5.5 Sodium thiosulfate solution. c (Na2S2O3) = 0.1mol/L. Prepare and calibrate according to the requirements of GB/T 601.
5.6 Sodium thiosulfate standard titration solution. c (Na2S2O3) = 0.01mol/L. It is obtained by diluting 5.5 times by 5.5.
