Ultra-thin glass hardness and fracture toughness test method
Small load Vickers hardness indentation method
1 Scope
This standard specifies the hardness and fracture toughness of ultra-thin glass measured by Vickers indentation method with loading force of 1.961N~49.03N.
Language and definition, test principle, test equipment, specimens, tests, calculation of results, marking and test reports.
This standard is applicable to the hardness test of glass with a thickness of 0.1mm~1.1mm and the breakage of glass with a thickness of 0.3mm~1.1mm.
Crack toughness test.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Small load Vickers hardness low-loadvickersindentation
The load of 1.961N~49.03N is used to press the Vickers indenter into the surface of the sample to form an indentation. The load is divided by the diagonal according to the indentation.
The value obtained by calculating the indentation surface area from the line length average.
3.2
Vickers indentation fracture toughness vickersindentationfracturetoughness
With a certain load, the diamond Vickers indenter is pressed into the surface of the sample to form an indentation, and pre-cracks are generated at the four vertices of the indentation.
The value calculated from the load and the indentation crack propagation length.
4 Test principle
A square tapered diamond indenter with an angle of 136° on the opposite side is pressed into the surface of the specimen at a given test pressure and maintained at the specified
After the time, the test force is removed, and the length of the two diagonal lines of the indentation and the length of the diagonal crack propagation of the indentation are measured by a microscope, according to a given meter.
Calculate the formula and calculate the hardness and fracture toughness of the sample surface. The schematic diagram of the test principle is shown in Figure 1. The indentation morphology and diagonal and diagonal cracks
The schematic diagram of the length measurement is shown in Figure 2.
