1 Scope
This standard specifies the determination of tritium in seawater using low background liquid scintillation spectrometry.
This standard applies to the analysis of tritium in sea water, also applies to coastal waters near the nuclear facilities, as well as tritium in other saline water analysis

3 method principle
Tritium is a low-energy beta-emitting nuclide with a maximum energy of 18.6 keV and an average energy of 5.7 keV. After the seawater sample is desalted by distillation, the liquid is used

Unless otherwise indicated, all reagents used were of analytical grade.
4.1 tritium standard stock solution .100Bq/g.
4.2 No tritium water.
4.3 tritium standard solution used .1.00Bq/mL.
Accurately weighed 1.0000g tritium standard stock solution (4.1) in a 50mL beaker, with a small amount of tritiated water (4.2) dilution, the total amount of transfer to
100mL volumetric flask (5.8), diluted to the mark, mix well.
4.4 anhydrous sodium carbonate (Na2CO3).
4.5 potassium permanganate (KMnO4).
4.6 Copper powder Particle diameter about 75μm (about.200 mesh).
4.7 2,5-diphenyloxazole [OC (C6H5) = NCH = CC6H5], abbreviated PPO, scintillation pure.
4.8 Toluene (C6H5CH3).
4.9 1,4 - [Bis- (5-phenyloxazol-2)] benzene ([OC (C6H5) = CHN = C] 2C6H4), abbreviated POPOP, scintillation pure.
4.10 Sodium hydroxide (NaOH).
4.11 Triton X-100 [C8H17 (C6H4) (OCH2CH2) 10OH].
