1 Scope
This standard specifies the determination of free formaldehyde in cosmetics by high performance liquid chromatography.
This standard applies to the determination of free formaldehyde in cosmetics.

3 principle
Cosmetics samples were solvent dispersed, ultrasonic extraction, after centrifugation, the formaldehyde dissolved in the aqueous phase was separated by liquid chromatography, post-column derivatization
The apparatus reacted with acetylacetone to generate 3,5-diacetyl-1,4-dihydropaluridine, detected by fluorescence detector, characterized by retention time, external standard method

4 Reagents and materials
Unless otherwise indicated, all reagents are of analytical grade, water is a water GB/T 6682 regulations.
4.1 anhydrous ammonium acetate.
4.2 glacial acetic acid.
4.3 Acetylacetone. After the distillation at 4 ℃ sealed dark storage, can be stored for a month.
4.4 anhydrous sodium hydrogen phosphate purity of not less than 98%.
4.5 Phosphate (≥85%).
4.6 Dichloromethane.
4.7 Butyl acetate.
4.8 Formaldehyde .37% ~ 40%. Formaldehyde CAS number, English name, molecular formula, relative molecular mass see Appendix A of Table A.1.
4.9 0.002mol/L hydrochloric acid solution. Measure 9mL hydrochloric acid (37%), water to volume 1L, and then take this 0.1mol/L hydrochloric acid solution
Dilute 50 times with water.
4.10 0.006mol/L disodium hydrogen phosphate solution Weigh 0.852g anhydrous sodium phosphate dibasic (4.4), dissolved in water and transferred to 1L volume
The flask was rinsed with water and adjusted to pH = 2.1 with phosphoric acid (4.5) to serve as the mobile phase.
4.11 Derivatization reagent Weigh 62.5g of anhydrous ammonium acetate in 500mL beaker, add appropriate amount of water to dissolve, transfer to 1L volumetric flask.
Pipette 7.5mL glacial acetic acid and 5.0mL acetylacetone, with water volume. The derivatization reagent needs to be sealed and protected from light and stored at 25 ℃
For 4 weeks.
Note. For each formulation of derivatization reagent, calibration of the standard curve with formaldehyde standard solution is required.
