1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, principles and methods of thermosensitive properties of thermoplastics and their composite materials,

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Sealing layer surface separation adhesivefailure
Separation behavior occurring at the heat seal interface.
3.2
Failure mode failuremode
During the hot-stick test, the heat-seal sample is disconnected when the chuck is separated, as shown in FIG. 1.
3.3
Melting through burnthrough
Hot seal at the weld piercing and thermal deformation of the state.
Note. When this occurs at the heat seal, the heat seal temperature is too high or the heat seal time is too long.
3.4
Cohesive destruction of cohesivefailure
One or both sides of the heat-sealed sample are destroyed at a point approximately parallel to the heat seal interface while the heat seal interface maintains a complete failure mode.
Note. The damage mode is shown in Figure 1. When adhesive materials are involved in heat-sealing, a similar term can be defined when similar damage occurs.

Cooling curve coolingcurve
In the heat sealing process just after the end of the thermal viscosity with the cooling time curve, shown in Figure 2.
Note that the cooling curve is the curve of the hot tack on the cooling time, and the most practical part of the cooling curve is the first 1 s after the heat sealing knife is opened.

Cooling time coolingtime
The time between the point at which the heat seal knife is separated and the time point at which the hot tack is measured.
