Introduction
Soil science data is widely used in agriculture, forestry, ecology, environmental protection and other fields, is an important strategic resource for scientific and technological innovation and economic development.
Due to the lack of standardized metadata description of the characteristics of soil science data such as content, quality, soil classification and data generation methods, data
Difficult to find, manage and use, it is difficult to give full play to its role in data sharing and interdisciplinary applications.
Metadata is data about the data, the main role, including the description and management of data, to provide data query and retrieval methods to help data
Change and transfer, is to achieve data standardization and data sharing, exchange and integration of one of the main means.
This standard is based on the domestic and international standards, according to the soil science data collection, management and use of the characteristics of the development, is the soil science data set
Metadata content standards. By providing a scalable, conceptual model for describing and archiving management data, the group of normalized metadata
Management, promotion of soil science data sharing and exchange, protection of intellectual property rights.
Soil Science Data Metadata
1 Scope
This standard defines the requirements, technical content, and conceptual models of soil science data metadata, specifying the minimum required for metadata application
Data element sets (core metadata), and rules and methods for selecting, extending, and developing metadata-specific standards for metadata.
This standard applies to the cataloging and description of soil science data sets, organization and management, and data services for data exchange websites.

3 terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Soil science data
Field surveys, observations, experiments and other soil science research activities generated by the original data, through the map and measurement technology to form the soil
The spatial data of the information, and the data formed by processing the data.
3.2
Soil classification
According to the difference of soil properties and quantity, the soil classification system and its classification level were systematically divided into soil classification system.
3.3
Dataset dataset
Identifiable data sets.
Note 1. Data sets can be physically smaller in smaller data sets by, for example, spatial scope or data acquisition methods or feature type restrictions. one
Zhang Fei digital hardcopy maps and charts can be considered a data set.
Note 2. rewrite GB/T 19710-2005, definition 4.2.
3.4
Data entity
A logical or physical storage unit that contains data content, and a data set may consist of one or more data entities.
Examples. text files, relational database tables, spreadsheets, spatial grid data, and attribute files in GIS layers.
