This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 28300-2012 "Technical delivery conditions for hot-rolled bars and wire rods - surface quality grades" and is in compliance with GB/T 28300- Compared with.2012, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows. a) The upper limit of the nominal size range has been increased and the applicable uses have been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.2012 edition); b) Added and modified some terms and definitions (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the.2012 edition); c) The code has been deleted (see Chapter 4 of the.2012 edition); d) Ordering and marking have been changed (see Chapter 4, 5.2 and 5.3 of the.2012 edition); e) Changed the surface quality grade corresponding to the nominal size and the maximum allowable depth or height of the surface discontinuity (see Table 1,.2012 Edition) Table 2); f) Added the default value of the maximum allowable number of defects (see Table 1); g) The thermal phase method (see 6.2.2.1 of the.2012 edition) has been deleted. This document is modified to adopt ISO 9443.2018 "Surface quality grades for hot-rolled bars and wire rods". Compared with ISO 9443.2018, this document has many structural adjustments. See Appendix A. This document has many technical differences compared to ISO 9443.2018. A table of these technical differences and their causes is given in Appendix B. 1 Scope

This document specifies the ordering and marking of surface quality grades, requirements, testing, and finishing for hot-rolled bar and wire rod. This document applies to the surface quality grades of hot-rolled bars and wire rods (hereinafter referred to as steel) with nominal sizes of 5mm~200mm. Hot rolled bars and wire rods of other nominal sizes shall be implemented accordingly. This document is applicable to steel used in engineering and structures, and products for other purposes shall refer to it. When the product standards for hot-rolled bars and wire rods have requirements for surface quality, the product standards shall be implemented.
