1 Scope
This document describes a method for the determination of biuret content in compound fertilizers by HPLC or spectrophotometry.
This document is applicable to the determination of biuret content in compound fertilizers containing urea.
It can be implemented as a reference.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 6274 and GB/T 15063 apply to this document.
4 Method Summary
After ultrasonic extraction of biuret in the sample, the content of biuret was determined by HPLC or spectrophotometry.
Chromatography is the referee method.
5 Test methods
5.1 Sample preparation
Laboratory samples (commonly known as test specimens) for analysis are prepared according to GB/T 8571.
5.2 Method 1 High Performance Liquid Chromatography
5.2.1 Principle
The biuret in the sample was extracted with acetonitrile and water solution (mobile phase) and separated by reversed phase liquid chromatography with amino/aminopropyl column.
The content of biuret was quantified and calculated using an ultraviolet detector or a diode array detector.
