1 Scope
This document describes a method for the determination of icariin in health foods by HPLC.
This document applies to the preservation of dosage forms such as tablets, hard capsules, soft capsules, powders, granules, oral liquids, pills, ointments, wine preparations, tea preparations, etc.

4 Principle
Icariin in the sample was extracted with 70% ethanol solution, and the oily sample was degreased with n-hexane, filtered, and analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography.
The product was detected by UV detector, qualitative analysis was performed by retention time and quantitative analysis was performed by external standard method.
5 Reagents or materials
Unless otherwise specified, only chromatographic grade reagents were used.
5.1 Reagents
5.1.1 Water. Grade 1 water as specified in GB/T 6682.
5.1.2 Ethanol (C2H5OH).
5.1.3 Methanol (CH3OH).
5.1.4 n-Hexane [CH3(CH2)4CH3]. analytical grade.
5.1.5 Acetonitrile (CH3CN).
5.1.6 70% (volume ratio) ethanol solution. measure 700 mL of ethanol (5.1.2), dilute to 1000 mL with water, mix well and set aside.
5.2 Standard samples or standard substances
Icariin standard product. purity not less than 98%, or standard sample or standard substance certified by the state.
