Polarizing microscope microscopy reference system
1 Scope
This standard specifies the microscope and all rotating and moving the adjustment mechanism of attachment on the reference system, in order to consistent measurement process.
This standard focuses on the polarization parameters and test accessories, such as rotating stage microscope, polarizing element and compensator.
Principle 2
Under pressure, temperature and wavelength constant, anisotropy, asymmetric and non-absorbing crystal optical properties, can be folded with a triaxial
Reflectance ellipsoid described.
The length of the axle ellipsoid shaped by the principal refractive index α crystal form β and γ given shape. After any of the refractive index ellipsoid and ellipsoidal
Planar body centers are generally shaped shaft length α and γ-shaped oval. By definition, a relationship with each other. like α≤ like α≤ like β≤ like γ≤ like γ.
All provisions in the polarization direction of observation is the reference direction of the highest refractive index-like γ.
NOTE. To emphasize | like γ | > | shaped α |, subscript usually γ and α instead of γ 'and α'.
Uniaxial refractive index ellipsoid is a spheroid, and provides shape and form ω ε for two spindles, which shape and form ω ε substituting
Table ordinary ray and the direction of vibration is very light. The latter is a rotary axis direction, defined as follows.
Shaped like α = β = γ = form ω ≠ shaped like ε (n), shaped like β = γ = ω ≠ shaped like shape α = ε (negative)
That is. If ε-like shape is greater than ω, compared with a positive uniaxial crystal; on the contrary, is negative uniaxial crystal.
3 the direction of rotation and displacement of the reference system (see Figure 1)
3.1 General
With a positive reference Cartesian coordinates X, Y, Z system as a basis for the viewer, its Z-axis orientation of the light from the light source
Propagation direction, therefore, for vertical and inverted microscope, through the eyepieces, in a plane perpendicular to the Z-axis can be read counterclockwise
The forward direction in the mathematical sense an increased angle u.
Reference direction. east-west direction
Figure 1
Mobile 3.2 feet (see Figure 2)
Moving feet and placed on the microscope stage spin reproduced, the object can move in the X, Y coordinate direction. When the rotational stage in the microscope
Zero, the positive X direction and the reference direction is consistent foot (u = 0 °).
3.3 microscope stage of the rotational position
When the X-direction moving feet east-west direction, that is parallel to the direction from the vibration of light from the polarizer, rotating stage in the microscope
Zero, polarizer vp = 0 ° (see 4.2).
NOTE. If you play a basic non-polarizer direction east-west direction (u = 0 °) but the other direction, it must be marked on the microscope.
