--- Changed the friction load parameter (595±7) g applicable to coated fabrics, and added the friction load parameter (795±7 g applicable to
For non-clothing coated fabrics, the friction load parameter (198 ± 2) g is changed to apply only to coated fabrics with water sandpaper as the abrasive (see
Chapter 4, Chapter 4 of the.2007 edition);
--- Changed the standard abrasive for coated fabrics to wool abrasive or P800 water sandpaper, and added "sample" (see 5.1, 5.2,.2007 edition)
5.1);
--- Added optional standard atmosphere and indicated in the test report (see Chapter 6);
--- Deleted "may also be drawn in accordance with GB/T 2828.1" (see 7.1 of the.2007 edition);
--- Added requirements for the selection of laboratory samples (see 7.2);
--- Added the requirement that full-width samples be taken at least 150 mm from the edge of the fabric and the principles to be followed for sampling knitted fabrics (see 7.3);
--- Changed the test endpoints for pile or cut pile fabrics (see Chapter 8, Appendix A of the.2007 edition);

Introduction
GB/T 21196 "Determination of the abrasion resistance of textiles by the Martindale method" is a method for testing the abrasion resistance of fabrics using the Martindale method.
The standard is proposed to consist of the following parts.
--- Part 1.Martindale abrasion tester. The purpose is to provide a unified instrument and
Auxiliary materials.
--- Part 2.Determination of sample damage. The purpose is to test the abrasion resistance of fabrics with sample damage as the test end point.
--- Part 3.Determination of mass loss. The purpose is to test the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the mass loss of the specimen.
--- Part 4.Assessment of appearance change. The purpose is to test the wear resistance of fabrics through changes in the appearance of the specimens.
Textiles. Determination of the abrasion resistance of fabrics by the Martindale method
Part 2.Determination of specimen damage
1 Scope
This document describes a method for testing wear resistance using specimen failure as the test endpoint.
This document applies to all textile fabrics, including nonwovens and coated fabrics.
This document does not apply to fabrics specifically designated for a shorter wear life.
Note. Coated fabrics (including laminated coated fabrics) in this document contain at least one continuous polymer coating. The coated side is the positive side, that is, the coated side is the wear side.
