Glass Strength and Reliability
1 Scope
This document describes the test methods for the strength and reliability of glass used in liquid crystal display (LCD) devices.
This document applies to all LCD types, including transmissive, reflective or transflective LCD modules, which use field, passive
Or active matrix, non-color or color LCD, and whether it has its own integrated light source.
This document provides unified requirements for accurate and reliable testing of LCD parameters.
a) quasi-static strength;
b) Quasi-static fatigue.
The method described in this document is applicable to LCD devices of all sizes, both small and large.
NOTE. The method for measuring fatigue constants described in this document is derived from references [1] to [8]. The main result is the estimated allowable stress over a specified life period.
Or the formula for calculating the estimated failure rate at a specified stress level. For example, limited data on the strength and fatigue behavior of LCD glass can be found in Appendix A.
The static strength data of LCD modules is also included and compared with the substrate glass.
