This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 18799-2008 "Test Methods for the Performance of Household and Similar Electric Irons". This standard and GB/T 18799-
The main technical changes compared to.2008 are as follows.
---Modified the definition of "automatic cut-off device" (see 3.13, 3.13 of the.2008 edition);
--- Modify "Measurement voltage" to "Measurement voltage and frequency" and re-specify (see 5.3, 5.2 in.2008 edition);
--- Added anti-circumvention clauses (see 5.12);
---Modified the measurement test of the heating time of the steam operation of the open steam electric iron (see 9.1.1, 9.1.1 in the.2008 edition);
---Modified the measurement test of the evaporation time, evaporation rate and water leakage rate of the open steam iron (see 9.2.1, 9.2.1 of the.2008 edition);

1 Scope
This standard applies to electric irons for household and similar purposes.
The purpose of this standard is to describe and define the basic performance characteristics of household and similar electric irons that are of interest to users, and to describe the test results.

This standard neither involves safety nor performance requirements.
Note. The primary feature considered in the performance evaluation of electric irons is the basic ability to iron the fabric flat without causing scorching or other damage to the fabric.
It is impossible to measure this characteristic stably and repeatedly with a single method. Therefore, these parameters are included in the test of the electric iron.
