1 Scope

This document specifies the classification and naming of natural stone, numbering principles, names and numbers. This document applies to the naming and numbering of granite, marble, limestone, sandstone, slate and other stones used for building decoration.

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 13890 apply to this document.

4 Classification and naming

4.1 Classification Natural stone is divided into the following categories according to its rock mineral composition and physical properties. a) Granite; b) Marble; c) limestone; d) sandstone; e) Slate stone; f) Other stones. 4.2 Naming 4.2.1 The Chinese name is determined based on the name of the place of origin, pattern color, stone type and other distinguishable features. 4.2.2 English names shall follow customary usage or foreign trade names.

5 Numbering principles

5.1 The unified number of natural stone consists of the stone type code (1 English letter), the stone origin code (2 digits) and the origin code of the stone.
