Principle 3
With sulfuric acid at high temperature and pressure conditions, the papermaking raw materials or pulp hydrolysis of cellulose and hemicellulose into simple sugars solution to lead carbonate
After neutralization using sodium borohydride reduction, to make it a sugar alcohol. In high temperature conditions, were derivatized with acetic anhydride to form a volatile derivative

4 Reagents and materials
Unless otherwise indicated in the analysis using only recognized as analytical grade reagents and distilled or deionized water or equivalent purity.
4.1 Lead hydroxycarbonate [Pb (OH) 2 · 2PbCO3].
4.2 sodium borohydride (NaBH4).
4.3 acetic acid (CH3COOH). a concentration of 36%.
4.4 dichloromethane (CH2Cl2). chromatography.
4.5 absolute ethanol (C2H5OH).
Acetic anhydride 4.6 (C4H6O3).
4.7 butyl acetate (C6H12O2).
4.8 sulfuric acid solution. formulated with distilled water into a superior grade of pure sulfuric acid concentration of 72%.
4.9 hydrochloric acid solution. concentration of 1mol/L.
4.10 Internal standard. standard inositol (C6H12O6), a purity of greater than 98.5%.
4.11 standard glucose (C6H12O6). purity of greater than 98.5%.
4.12 galactose standard (C6H12O6). purity of greater than 98.5%.
4.13 mannose standard (C6H12O6). purity of greater than 98.5%.
4.14 standard xylose (C5H10O5). purity of greater than 98.5%.
4.15 arabinose standard (C5H10O5). purity of greater than 98.5%.
4.16 internal standard solution. Accurately weigh an appropriate amount of internal standard (4.10), using distilled water as the internal standard solution of the desired concentration.
