This document applies to portable immersion heaters for household and similar purposes, with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V.
Appliances intended for normal household use but which may nevertheless present a danger to the public, for example, intended for use by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms

As far as is practical, the common hazards presented by the appliances covered by this document are those which may be encountered by all persons in and around the home.
