Part 2: Pipes
1 Scope
This document specifies the materials, product classifications, specifications, dimensions and deviations of buried polyethylene (PE) pipes for gas (hereinafter referred to as "pipes")
and physical and mechanical properties, inspection rules, marking and packaging, transportation and storage requirements, and the corresponding test methods are described:
This document, together with other parts of GB/T 15558, is applicable to operating temperatures between -20℃~40℃ and maximum operating pressure (MOP)
Buried polyethylene pipeline system for gas not exceeding 1:0MPa:
This document is applicable to underground polyethylene for gas use with a nominal outer diameter of 16mm~800mm made of PE100 and PE80 grade compounds:
Vinyl pipe:
Note 1: When transporting artificial coal gas and liquefied petroleum gas, it is necessary to consider the impact of other components (such as aromatic hydrocarbons and condensate) present in the gas on the pipe properties at a certain concentration:
adverse effects on performance:
Note 2: The maximum working pressure of the pipeline system is related to the working temperature and the material’s rapid crack propagation resistance (RCP) critical pressure, see GB/T 15558:1-2023
Appendix C: The reference operating temperature is 20℃:
Note 3: The MOP of polyethylene pipes is determined based on the design stress σD and takes into account the influence of RCP performance; the MOP depends on the minimum required strength of the material type
MRS, standard size ratio SDR and overall usage (design) coefficient (C≥2), etc:
Note 4: Relevant parties are responsible for appropriately selecting the products specified in GB/T 15558 (all parts) based on specific application requirements and in combination with relevant regulations, standards or specification requirements:
