1 Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for the composition, preservation and management of pre-press digital resource files. This standard applies to the preservation and management of pre-press digital resource files by book publishing units.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms apply to this document. 3.1 Resource document of book for prepress The general term for digital resource files such as files used for book printing and related metadata composed of typeset files and cover files. 3.2 Typesetting document A file generated by typesetting software for printing the book's content. Note. Commonly used book typesetting software includes Founder Book Edition, InDesign, Word, etc. 3.3 Cover file The outer image file of the book, including the image content of the front cover, the fourth cover and the back of the book. [CY/T 50-2008, 3.146] 3.4 Portable Document Format; PDF Describes fixed-format information, an electronic file format that has nothing to do with the operating system platform. [CY/T 101.1-2014, 6.3.4] 3.5 Vectorized PDF document vectorized PDF document The layout content is a PDF file composed of vector text, vector lines and images. 3.6 Vector Path PDF file curved-text PDF document A PDF file whose layout content consists of vector lines and images, also known as a converted PDF file. 4 The composition of digital resource files before printing

4.1 Document composition The composition of the pre-press digital resource file includes. a) Typesetting documents; b) Cover document; c) Metadata files. 4.2 Commonly used typesetting files 4.2.1 Founder Book Edition The typesetting files of Founder Book Edition mainly include. a) Vector PDF; b) Vector Path PDF; c) Sample documents; d) Large sample documents; e) Parameter file; f) Font file; g) Complementary word file; h) Picture files; i) Full text text file; j) PS file. 4.2.2 InDesign InDesign layout files mainly include. a) Vector PDF; b) Vector Path PDF; c) indd file; d) Font file; e) Picture file; f) Full text text file. 4.2.3 Word Word typesetting files mainly include. a) Vector PDF; b) Vector Path PDF; c) Word document; d) Font file; e) Full text text file. 4.3 Cover file The cover file mainly includes. a) Original design documents; b) Cover PDF file; c) Picture files. 4.4 Metadata file 4.4.1 Describe metadata The description metadata follows the relevant regulations of GB/T 25100-2010, see Appendix A, and can be expanded as needed. 4.4.2 Manage Metadata Describe the management information of pre-press digital resource file creation, processing, circulation, etc. The management metadata is shown in Table 1. 5 File storage requirements

5.1 Completeness 5.1.1 Complete documentation The typesetting files, cover files and metadata files that make up the pre-press digital resource files of the book should be kept intact. 5.1.1.1 Typesetting documents are available 5.1.1.2 Complete cover file See Table 3 for the complete preservation requirements of cover files. 5.1.1.3 Complete metadata files See Table 4 for the complete preservation requirements of metadata files. 5.1.2 Complete content The content of the pre-press digital resource file should be complete and complete. For some common file uniqueness errors, see Appendix B.4. 6 Pre-press digital resource file preservation 6.1 Storage method Pre-press digital resource files of books should be based on books, and file hierarchical directories should be established according to different categories for preservation. 6.2 Save structure 6.3 Naming rules Refer to Table 7 for the naming rules of digital resource files before printing. 6.4 Regular backup The stored digital resource files of books should be backed up regularly to prevent file damage and loss. 6.5 Data repair The pre-press digital resource files of books should be repaired in time due to the failure of storage equipment or human error. 7 Management of pre-press digital resource files 7.1 Establish management methods The management methods of prepress digital resource files include. a) Improve the management system; b) Strengthen quality management; c) Strengthen circulation management; d) Improve security and confidentiality mechanisms; e) Establish an assessment mechanism. 7.2 Improve management process Figure 2 shows the management process of digital resource files before printing.
