1 Scope
This standard specifies the clinical diagnosis of African horse sickness in the African horse sickness virus isolation laboratory technology, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction technology
Technique (RT-PCR), real-time fluorescent RT-PCR detection technology, RT-PCR genotyping identification techniques, serum neutralization test (SN T), enzyme-linked immunosorbent
Technical requirements attached assay (ELISA) and other laboratory procedures.
This standard applies to the import and export horses, donkeys, mules and other equine quarantine of African horse sickness, diagnosis and serological surveys.

3 clinical diagnosis
3.1 onset of symptoms
First, make individual or group horse to keep quiet, to observe the mental state, respiratory status, standing posture; observe the head, face and body
Whether the characteristic edema. Second, observe the movement of horses, are there slow, abnormal behavior and other phenomena. Observation in the clinical diagnosis
We should focus on the following points.
a) horses showed severe respiratory symptoms, respiratory rate of 60 breaths/min or even 75 times/min, with varying degrees of respiratory

b) When the horses standing front legs apart, head thrust forward, nostrils expand, showing spasmodic cough, while the outflow from the nose outward foamy
liquid;
c) presenting with acute febrile horses or remittent type of fever, persistent 1d ~ 2d or 5d ~ 8d, the maximum temperature up to 40 ℃ ~ 41 ℃;
d) appears characteristic edema, mainly in the section between the Yen, supraorbital fossa and the eyelids, lips, cheeks, tongue, mandible, and some subcutaneous edema
It can be extended to the neck to the chest;
e) the ventral tongue and conjunctiva, and subcutaneous bleeding;
f) anorexia and depression, and some irritability, colic exhibited similar symptoms.

3.2 pathological changes
Pathological examination should observe the following points.
a) nuchal ligament edema;
b) carcass muscle edema and the gap was jelly-like;
c) multiple tissue congestion and the formation of ecchymosis;
