This standard does not apply to paper shredders designed for industrial use and to paper shredders designed for use in special environmental locations where corrosive or explosive gases (such as dust, vapor or gas) are present. This standard does not take into account the use of paper shredders by unattended children and persons with disabilities, nor does it take into account the situation of children playing with paper shredders. Additional requirements may be required for shredders used on vehicles, ships or aircraft.
