Non-destructive testing of ancient ceramic chemical composition
PIXE analysis technical specification
1 Scope
This standard specifies the proton-excited X-ray fluorescence (PIXE) analysis technique during the nondestructive testing of ancient ceramics.
Claim.
This standard applies to the non-destructive testing of the composition of ancient ceramic chemical elements.
2 Principle
The sample is bombarded with a proton beam accelerated by an accelerator, so that atoms in the substance to be tested are excited and ionized, and when the inner shell layer is formed,
When the layer is filled with electrons, characteristic X-rays are emitted, and the energy and intensity of the characteristic X-rays are detected to determine the type of elements in the sample and
content.
3 equipment
3.1 Accelerator
Accelerators that provide 1.5MeV to 4.0MeV collimated proton beams, such as single-stage electrostatic accelerators or tandem accelerators.
3.2 Sample stage
A sample "positioning" device should be set up - the sample stage. The sample stage can be divided into the following two ways.
--- Closed. a certain volume of vacuum target chamber, the sample to be tested is placed in the target chamber, the sample size is limited by the geometry of the target chamber;
--- Open type. using the outer beam test, the sample to be tested is placed at the leading end of the proton beam. For example. collimation proton beaming obtained by an accelerator
The 7.5 μm Kapton membrane is introduced into the atmosphere and continues to pass through the air layer to reach the sample to be tested. The advantage of this method is that the sample to be tested
The geometry of the product is not limited, and it is convenient to change the sample.
3.3 X-ray measurement system
In the PIXE measurement system, the detector's 5.87 keV Kα ray should have an energy resolution of less than 150 eV to ensure exploration.
Measure accuracy. The thickness of the detector window should be 7.5μm~12μm to ensure that the energy of the detector for Na is 1.041keV.
The ray has sufficient detection efficiency.
When using a closed target chamber, vacuum test should be carried out, and the vacuum should be below 10-4Pa.
When using the external beam PIXE method, helium should be filled between the sample target and the detector window to reduce the low energy X of air emission to the sample.
Absorption of radiation, otherwise the test system will be insensitive to the detection of elements Na and Mg or the measurement error is too large.
4 sample processing
4.1 Reagents and materials
4.1.1 Absolute ethanol. used to clean the surface of the sample.
