Determination of toluene adsorption rate
1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the adsorption rate of toluene on wood activated carbon.
This standard applies to wood granular activated carbon, but also applies to other granular activated carbon.
2 Method summary
Under the specified test conditions, the toluene-laden nitrogen stream is passed through a known mass of activated carbon sample until the sample mass no longer increases.
Considered as saturated by adsorption. The toluene adsorption rate of the sample is expressed in milligrams of toluene per mg of activated carbon (mg/g).
3 Reagents
3.1 Toluene (GB/T 684).
3.2 High purity nitrogen (GB/T 8979).
4 Instruments and Equipment
4.1 Nitrogen gas flowmeter. Flow range 40mL/min~400mL/min.
4.2 Analytical balance. The amount of sense is 0.1mg.
4.3 constant temperature water bath device. temperature range RT (normal temperature) ~ 99 °C.
4.4 electric constant temperature drying oven. temperature control range RT (normal temperature) 10 °C ~ 250 °C.
4.5 Adsorption tube. Made of industrial white glass, the appearance requires no bubbles and other obvious defects. There should not be more melted glass joints
Stacks and wrinkles, plugs are ground connections. The adsorption tube should be tested for airtightness before use. Inside diameter of tube body is (10±)

4.6 porous gas wash bottle. 250mL.
