Introduction

Currently, a series of global resource and environmental issues, such as global change and sustainable development, are becoming increasingly severe, attracting international attention and scientific scrutiny. Research focus in ecology is shifting from small-scale individual, community, and ecosystem studies to regional, continental, and even global scales. Ecosystems Systematic observation has also gradually shifted from short-term, location-based, and small-scale collaborative observations to long-term, regional, and even large-scale, networked observations. The focus is shifting towards integrated three-dimensional observation, encompassing space, air, and ground. Data acquired by ecosystem observation research institutes is gradually moving away from primarily traditional numerical data. The trend is towards multimodal data coexistence. Simultaneously, with the development of big data and artificial intelligence technologies, data-driven approaches, artificial intelligence, and ecology are intersecting. The development of new integrated scientific research paradigms is in full swing. These changes urgently require improvements in the management, sharing, and application of ecological science data. In recent years, especially since the promulgation of my country's "Measures for the Management of Scientific Data" in.2018, a series of new national standards in related fields have been successively issued. Cloth, such as GB/T 32843-2016 "Science and Technology Resource Identification", GB/T 35294-2017 "Information Technology Scientific Data Citation", GB/T 30523- 2023 "Core Metadata of Scientific and Technological Resources", GB/T 43705-2025 "Guidelines for Classification and Grading of Scientific Data Security", etc. Internationally, in the field of ecology... This also presents new challenges for the management and sharing of scientific data in the field of ecology, including data security, intellectual property protection, and international alignment. Requirements. Ecological science data serves as the foundation for innovation in ecological science research; its value is influenced by factors such as data scale, quality, management, and the level of sharing services. Metadata standards are a crucial factor in the effective management of ecological science data and the key to its sharing and application. GB/T 20533-2006 "Metadata of Ecological Science Data" has played a significant role in the management and sharing of ecological science data in my country over the past nearly 20 years. It has played an important role, but its content is no longer suitable for the new situation and new requirements, and it urgently needs to be revised. This document targets hierarchical ecological science data and describes the structure of general metadata using UML model diagrams and data dictionaries. This document defines the composition of core metadata for ecological science data and outlines the rules and methods for developing dedicated metadata standards. This document can serve as a reference for ecological... Scientific data centers for various fields, ecosystem field scientific observation and research stations, and other facilities related to the production, management, and service of ecological science data. For organization and individual use. This document guides relevant departments or institutions in my country to establish a networked and intelligent ecological science data management system accessible to the entire society. The rationalization and sharing service system plays a vital supporting role. The implementation of this document will contribute to the construction and accumulation of ecological science data resources in my country, and promote... Standardized management of ecological science data will improve the level of sharing and utilization of ecological science data. Ecological science data metadata

1 Scope

This document defines a conceptual model for describing ecological science data at the dataset level, and establishes a set of mandatory components that constitute this model. Required and optional subsets of metadata, metadata entities, and metadata elements; the minimum metadata required for various levels of requirement applications. The data element set (referred to as core metadata) and the rules for extending metadata and developing metadata-specific standards to meet special needs. It then describes a method for developing dedicated standards for metadata. This document applies to the cataloging, description, and standardized management of ecological science datasets and dataset series, and also to scientific data centers. Data services.
