Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 19996-2005 "Open Edition Map Quality Assessment Standards."
Compared with GB/T 19996-2005, the main technical changes in this standard are as follows.
--- Revised the requirements and methods for map sub-item quality assessment (see Chapter 5,.2005 edition, Chapter 4 and Chapter 5);
--- Modify the calculation method of the total number of maps (see A.1,.2005 version of A.1);
--- Modified the calculation method for different classifications of map editing and quality errors (see A.2,.2005 version A.2);
--- Increased the number of layout conversions for different density maps (see B.1).
This standard is proposed by the National Bureau of Surveying and Mapping Geographic Information.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Geographic Information Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC230).

1 Scope
This standard specifies the contents, requirements, methods, ratings, and quality reports for the quality assessment of published paper maps.
This standard applies to the quality assessment of map illustrations in publicly published paper maps and other publications.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Map layout conversion number conversionofmaptowordcount
The number of text words obtained by translating all punctuation marks, line symbols, surface marks, and annotations on the map.
3.2
Error rate percentageofmistake
The total number of errors in the redaction of one (book) map and the ratio of the number of translated words on the map layout.

Publicly-published paper map quality assessment including four contents of content quality, editing quality, design quality, and printing quality of the map
