This Standard replaces GB 19298-2003 "Hygienic standard of bottled water for drinking" and its No.1 and No. 2 modification sheets, and GB 17324-2003 "Hygienic standard of bottled purified water for drinking" and GB 17323-1998". For indexes in GB 17323-1998 "Bottled purified water for drinking water" that are involved in this Standard, this Standard’s indexes shall prevail. The main differences between this Standard AND GB 19298-2003 & GB17324-2003 are as follows. -- The title of the standard is modified to be "National Food safety standard Packaged water for drinking"; -- The scope is modified; -- The definition is modified; -- The requirements for raw material are modified; -- The sensory requirements are modified; -- The physiochemical indexes are modified; -- The limits for microorganism are modified; -- The test method is modified; -- The specification for labels and marks is added. This Standard is applicable to packaged water for drinking which can be drunk directly. This Standard is not applicable to natural mineral water for drinking.2 Terms and definitions
2.1 Packaged water The water packaged in container that meets food safety standards and relevant specifications, which can be drunk directly. 2.1.1 Purified water for drinking The packaged water for drinking that is produced by using source water which meets requirements of clause 3.1, purified by distillation, electrodialysis, ion exchange, hyperfiltration as well as other proper water purification methods. 2.1.2 Other kinds of water for drinking3 Technical requirements
3.1 Source water requirements 3.1.1 The water quality shall comply with the provisions of GB 5749, if source water originates from public utility water supply system. 3.2 Sensory requirements The sensory requirements shall comply with the provisions in Table 1. 3.3 Physiochemical indexes The physiochemical indexes shall comply with the provisions in Table 2. 3.4 Pollutant limits Pollutant limits shall comply with the provisions of GB 2762. 3.5 Microorganism limits Microorganism limits shall comply with the provisions in Table 3. 3.6 Food additives Food additives shall comply with the provisions of GB 2760.4 Others
