This Standard shall be administered by the National Standardization Technical Committee - Tobacco Smoke Materials Technical Sub-committee (SAC/TC 141/SC 8). This Standard was drafted by organizations. National Tobacco Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, Hongta Tobacco (Group) Co., Ltd., and Hongyun Honghe Tobacco (Group) Co., Ltd. The main drafters of this Standard. Tang Gangling, Wang Weihou, Zhan Jianbo, Zhu Fengpeng, Li Xue, Hu Qingyuan, Xiong Wen, Meng Zhaoyu, Qian Qiang, Yang Liu, Tang Jianguo, Gao Tao, Deng Changqi, Lu Seming, and Liao Tougeng. Determination of arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, mercury in tipping paper and tipping base paper for cigarette - Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry 1 Scope This Standard specifies the determination method of arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, mercury in tipping paper and tipping base paper for cigarette – Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. This Standard applies to determination of arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, mercury in tipping paper and tipping base paper for cigarette. 2 Normative References The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, become provisions of this Standard. For dated references, their subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Standard. However, the parties who enter into agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to investigate whether the latest versions of these documents are applicable. For undated reference documents, the latest versions apply to this Standard. YC 170 Tipping base paper for cigarette YC 171 Tipping paper for cigarette 3 Principle After the sample is treated, USE 1% nitric acid to fix the volume. Under the selected instrument parameters, the sample is ionized and forms aerosol. It is ionized under high temperature argon gas plasma environment. After ionization, the ions extracted through sampling cone, skimmer and lens ENTER into the mass analyzer for quantitative analysis. Acquisition Mode Full quantitative analysis Repetitions 3 7.2 PIPETTE appropriate amount of standard blank solution respectively. Different concentrations’ arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel mixed standard working solutions, different concentrations’ mercury standard working solutions (4.9.5) and the internal standard solution (4.8.2) ARE INJECTED into the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry respectively. Under the selected instrument parameters, the ratio of test elements arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, mercury contents AND the internal standard element indium content ACTS as the ordinate; the ratio of test elements arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, mercury mass numbers AND the internal standard element indium mass number ACTS as the abscissa. ESTABLISH calibration curves of arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, and mercury. PREFORM linear regression to the calibration data. OBTAIN the regression equations of concentration relation of arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, and mercury. R2 shall not be less than 0.999. 7.3 PIPETTE sample blank solutions respectively. The sample solutions and the internal standard solution (4.8.2) ARE INJECTED into the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Under the selected instrument’s parameters, OBTAIN the ratio of test elements arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, mercury ion mass number AND the internal standard element indium mass number, SUBSTITUTE the ratio into the regression equation obtained in 7.2. OBTAIN arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, mercury contents in sample blank solutions and sample solutions. 8 Result calculation and expression 8.1 Computing Contents of arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, and mercury in sample shall be calculated according to equation (1).
