MT 113-1995 MT COAL INDUSTRY STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Replacing MT 113-85 General Test Methods and Judgment Rules for Fire- resistant Antistatic Properties of Polymer Products for Coal Mines ISSUED ON: FEBRUARY 06, 1996 IMPLEMENTED ON: MARCH 01, 1996 Issued by: Ministry of Coal Industry of the People’s Republic of China Table of Contents 1 Subject content and scope of application ... 3  2 Normative references ... 3  3 Terms ... 3  4 Fire-resistant properties test methods ... 3  5 Surface resistance test methods ... 8  6 Judgment rules ... 11  7 Inspection and sampling requirements ... 12  Additional information: ... 13  General Test Methods and Judgment Rules for Fire- resistant Antistatic Properties of Polymer Products for Coal Mines 1 Subject content and scope of application This Standard specifies the fire-resistant properties, surface resistance test methods, judgment rules, and inspection and sampling requirements of polymer products. This Standard applies to polymer products that can cause prolonged combustion and static sparks in coal mines. 2 Normative references MT 182, Alcohol blast burner structure and technical requirements 3 Terms 3.1 Fire-resistant properties It refers to the ability of polymer products to pass the following tests: a. After the alcohol blast burner combustion test, the test piece shall be completely non-flammable or self-extinguishing; b. After the alcohol lamp combustion test, the test piece shall be completely non-flammable or self-extinguishing. 3.2 The length flame spread The length of the charred part of the test piece after the flame combustion and flameless combustion of the test piece are extinguished. 4 Fire-resistant properties test methods 4.1 Alcohol blast burner combustion test method 4.1.1 Test piece combustion time and flameless combustion time of the test piece and drippings from this time on. 4.1.4 Result expression The following test results shall be recorded and calculated: 4.1.4.1 The unit value of the flame combustion time and flameless combustion time of each test piece and drippings; 4.1.4.2 The length flame spread of each test piece; 4.1.4.3 The arithmetic mean of the flame combustion time of 6 test pieces and drippings; 4.1.4.4 The arithmetic mean of the flameless combustion time of 6 test pieces and drippings. 4.2 Alcohol lamp combustion test method 4.2.1 Test piece Cut 6 test pieces from the sample, each of which is 360 mm long, 50 mm wide, and 5 ~ 10 mm thick. 4.2.2 Instruments and apparatuses a. Alcohol lamp: The capacity is 250 mL; the alcohol capacity in the lamp during the test shall be half of the specified capacity. The fuel used is a mixture (V/V) of 95% ethanol (GB 394) and 5% methanol (GB 338). b. Combustion test chamber: see 4.1.2.b. c. Test device: see Figure 3. 4.2.3.7 During the test, put the test piece in a flame and ignite the test piece. The time to ignite the test piece is related to the thickness, softness and hardness of the test piece. The ignition time is 5 ~ 90 s (subject to the combustion test piece). Remove the unextinguished alcohol lamp; use a stopwatch to measure the flame combustion time and flameless combustion time of the test piece and drippings from then on. 4.2.4 Result expression The following test results shall be recorded and calculated: a. The unit value of the flame combustion time and flameless combustion time of each test piece and drippings; b. The length flame spread of each test piece; c. The arithmetic mean of the flame combustion time of 6 test pieces and drippings; d. The arithmetic mean of the flameless combustion time of 6 test pieces and drippings. 5 Surface resistance test methods 5.1 Test piece 5.1.1 Cut 3 test pieces from the sample; the size shall not be less than 300 mm × 300 mm, and the thickness shall be 5 ~ 10 mm. 5.1.2 The test piece shall be smooth and free of defects such as cracks, bubbles and mechanical impurities. 5.1.3 After using a clean cotton cloth dipped in distilled water to clean the test piece, use a clean dry cloth to wipe the test piece dry, and place it in a dry place for more than 24 hours. 5.1.4 On the surface of the clean test piece, use conducting resin (liquid) to paint the area as shown in Figure 4, the size of which is equivalent to the size of the electrode base surface. b. The arithmetic average of the 3 surface resistances on the upper surface; c. The arithmetic average of the 3 surface resistances on the bottom surface. 6 Judgment rules 6.1 Fire-resistant properties 6.1.1 Alcohol blast burner combustion test method When testing according to the methods described in this Standard, the following requirements shall be met: a. After removing the blast burner, the arithmetic mean of the flame combustion time of 6 test pieces shall not exceed 3 s, and the unit value of the flame combustion time of each test piece shall not exceed 10 s. b. After removing the blast burner, the arithmetic mean of the flameless combustion time of 6 test pieces shall not exceed 10 s, and the unit value of the flameless combustion time of each test piece shall not exceed 30 s. c. The length flame spread of the combustion test piece shall not be greater than 280 mm. If one of the 6 test pieces does not meet the above requirements, take double the amount of test pieces to retest. If it still does not meet the above requirements, judge the test as unqualified. 6.1.2 Alcohol lamp combustion test method When testing according to the methods described in this Standard, the following requirements shall be met: a. After removing the alcohol lamp, the arithmetic mean of the flame combustion time of 6 test pieces shall not exceed 6 s, and the unit value of the flame combustion time of each test piece shall not exceed 12 s. b. After removing the alcohol lamp, the arithmetic mean of the flameless combustion time of 6 test pieces shall not exceed 20 s, and the unit value of the flameless combustion time of each test piece shall not exceed 60 s. c. The length flame spread of the combustion test piece shall not be greater than 250 mm. If one of the 6 test pieces does not meet the above requirements, take double the amount of test pieces to retest. If it still does not meet the above requirements, judge the test as unqualified. ......
