Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 5613-1995, Designation for Cast Steels. Compared with
GB/T 5613-1995, the major changes of technical content in this Standard are as
follows.
-- it adds the codes for cast steels with special properties;
-- it modifies the expression method for the alloying elements and contents of cast
steel designations;
-- it modifies the examples of cast steel designations;
-- it adds Normative Reference A.
This Standard was proposed by and shall be under the jurisdiction of the National
Standardization Technical Committee on Foundry (SAC/TC 54).
The responsible drafting organizations of this Standard. Shenyang Research Institute
of Foundry, Jinan University.

Designation for Cast Steels
1 Application Scope
This Standard specifies the methods for the expression of codes, chemical element
symbols, nominal contents and mechanical properties of cast steel designations.
This Standard applies to all types of cast steels.
2 Normative References
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this
document. For dated references, only the edition dated applies to this document. For
undated references, the latest edition of the referenced documents (including all
amendments) applies to this Standard.

Judgement of Limiting Values
3 Designation System of Cast Steels
3.1 Cast steel code
3.1.1 The code of cast steels is represented by the capitalized standard initials of
Chinese pinyin “Zhu” and “Gang”.
3.1.2 When it needs to represent a special property of cast steels, the capitalized
standard initials of Chinese pinyin representing the special property of cast steels may
be used behind the code of cast steels.
3.1.3 See Annex A for the codes and examples of cast steels.
3.2 Element symbols, nominal contents and mechanical properties
The major alloying element symbols in the designations of cast steels are represented
by the international chemical element symbols; misch metal elements are represented
with symbol “RE”. Nominal contents and mechanical properties are represented by
Arabic numerals. The rounding rules of their contents are as specified in GB/T 8170.
3.3 Cast steel designation represented by mechanical properties
The two group of numbers behind “ZG” in designation represent mechanical properties.
The first group of numbers represent the minimum yield strength of the cast steel
designation; the second group of numbers represent the minimum tensile strength,
