1 Scope
This document specifies the capability maturity model for customization.
This document is applicable to evaluate the maturity of the manufacturing enterprise’s
customization capability.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 Customization
A production service model, where the organization reconstructs one or more links in
the product life cycle and system level based on the individual needs of customers, and
meets the individual needs of customers through large-scale production methods under
the constraints of cost, quality, delivery cycle, production efficiency, laws and
regulations, etc.
3.2 Capability maturity model
A model for measuring the capability maturity of an organization, including a series of
characteristics, attributes, indicators or patterns that represent capabilities and progress.
Note: The capability maturity model provides a reference benchmark for the
organization to measure the capability level of its current practices, processes
and methods, and sets clear improvement goals.

3.3 Process area
A set of interrelated or interacting activities that utilize inputs to achieve a desired result.
The organization has implemented customization according to the development plan,
and has invested capital. The development strategy of customization is promoting
organizational changes, and the organizational structure has been optimized;
d) Optimization level
Customization has become the core competitiveness of the organization, and the
strategic adjustment of the organization is based on the development of customization;
e) Leadership level
The organization’s customization development strategy has created higher economic
benefits for the organization, and the innovation management strategy has brought new
business opportunities to the organization and produced a new business model.
5.4.1.2 BP02 human resource management
Human resource management is a key factor in realizing customization. Empower
people to match the organization’s level of customization through the training of
personnel, the realization of skill acquisition methods, and the improvement of skill
levels.
a) Planned level
Be able to determine the human capabilities required for building a customization
environment;
b) Specification level
Be able to provide the means for personnel to acquire corresponding capabilities;
c) Integration level
Be able to conduct continuous education or training for personnel based on the
development needs for customization;
d) Optimization level
Be able to analyze the capability level of existing personnel through the information
system, so that the skill level of personnel and the development level of customization
can be improved simultaneously;
e) Leadership level
Establish an incentive mechanism to enable existing personnel to acquire the skills
required for customization in more fields and continuously improve their own
capabilities.
5.4.2 PA02 resource management
5.4.2.1 BP03 equipment management
Equipment digitization is the basis of customization; equipment management means
achieving remote online management and early warning of equipment through the
digital transformation of equipment and full life cycle management.
a) Planned level
Be able to use information technology to realize the daily management of some
equipment, and start to consider the digital transformation of equipment;
b) Specification level
Continue to carry out digital transformation of equipment, and be able to use
information technology to realize equipment status management;
c) Integration level
Be able to use the equipment management system to realize the full life cycle
management of equipment, and be able to remotely monitor key equipment in real time;
d) Optimization level
The digital transformation of equipment has been basically completed; be able to enable
experts to remotely diagnose equipment online; has established the operating model of
key equipment;
e) Leadership level
Be able to carry out predictive maintenance on equipment based on knowledge base
and big data analysis.
5.4.2.2 BP04 energy management
Energy management refers to utilizing information technology to standardize the
organization’s energy management and optimizing the use of energy and resources
through energy management factors such as energy planning, energy operation
scheduling, energy statistics, and carbon asset management, to reduce energy
consumption and improve energy efficiency of the organization.
a) Planned level
Start the informatization of energy management and realize the collection and
monitoring of some energy data;
b) Specification level
Be able to collect and count the main energy data through the information management
system;
inspection results through the integration of inspection procedures and digital
inspection equipment/systems.
d) Optimization level
Aiming at the quality problems of customers’ customized products in history, establish
a knowledge base for product quality problem disposal, predict the quality trend
according to the online inspection results of product quality, and automatically give
corrective measures for the production process based on the knowledge base.
e) Leadership level
Based on advanced information technology means such as artificial intelligence and big
data, analyze the quality problems of customers’ customized products in history, predict
quality trends, automatically repair and adjust relevant production parameters, and
ensure continuous and stable product quality.
5.4.3.2 BP06 safety and environmental protection
Safety and environmental protection means – through the establishment of an effective
management platform – informationizing the safety and environmental management
process, collecting, monitoring, analyzing and utilizing data, to establish a knowledge
base to optimize safety operations and environmental governance.
a) Planned level
Information technology has been adopted for risk, hidden danger, emergency and other
safety management and environmental protection data monitoring and statistics, etc.;
b) Specification level
Be able to realize the information management of the whole process from clean
production to terminal treatment;
c) Integration level
Assist safety management through the establishment of safety training, typical hidden
danger management, emergency management and other knowledge bases; carry out
real-time online monitoring of all environmental pollution points, integrate monitoring
data with production and equipment data, and give early warning of pollution sources
exceeding the standard;
d) Optimization level
Support multi-source information fusion, establish an emergency command center, and
carry out emergency response through the expert database; establish an environmental
protection governance model and optimize it in real time, and generate an
environmental protection optimization plan online;
e) Leadership level
Based on the knowledge base, support safe operation analysis and decision-making,
and realize integrated management of safe operation and risk control; use big data to
automatically predict the overall environmental conditions of all pollution sources, and
automatically formulate and implement treatment plans based on real-time production
equipment, pollution prevention and control equipment and other data.
5.5 Requirements for GP in PA
5.5.1 PA04 demand interaction
Sales management is to establish a platform for the interaction between supply and
demand through information technology, so that manufacturing companies can
understand customer needs in a timely and accurate manner, provide a basis for
customization, and finally realize accurate demand forecasting through big data
analysis and other technologies, to guide enterprises to realize customized production
according to different needs of users.
a) Planned level
Sales operations shall be managed through an information system.
b) Specification level
Realize the whole sales process management through the information system, and
strengthen the customer relationship management.
c) Integration level
Integrate sales and production, warehousing and other businesses, to realize the
individual needs of customers to drive production, procurement and logistics planning.
d) Optimization level
Apply the knowledge model to optimize customer demand forecasting and formulate
more accurate sales plans. Integrate all sales methods through the e-commerce platform
to realize automatic adjustment of procurement, production and logistics plans
according to the individual needs of customers. The whole life cycle management of
products shall be provided through the mobile client, to realize full traceability of
products.
e) Leadership level
Big data and machine learning technologies shall be used to analyze the sales data and
consumer behavior data of e-commerce platforms, and continuously optimize the sales
forecasting model. Apply the e-commerce platform to realize the whole process
management from personalized sales to payment collection. Intelligent customer
of the product to meet the application requirements of design, manufacturing,
inspection, operation and maintenance, sales, and service. Realize product
individualized design and collaborative design based on product design service of big
data and artificial intelligence technology.
5.5.2.2 GP03 process design
Carry out process design by means of process knowledge accumulation, excavation,
and reasoning; use advanced technology tools, to make the production process suitable
for discrete manufacturing.
a) Planned level
According to design experience, carry out computer-aided process planning and process
design, and establish the correlation between product design and process design data.
b) Specification level
Realize the simulation of key links in process design and the internal collaboration of
process design.
c) Integration level
Realize computer-aided three-dimensional process design and simulation optimization,
and realize information interaction and parallel collaboration between process design
and product design.
d) Optimization level
A process model including tooling model, tool model and equipment model shall be
established based on the product design model, and the complete process information
shall be integrated into the 3D digital model. A complete process design and
management system shall be established to realize the unified management of the
process and structure of 3D process design, with functions such as version management,
authority control, and electronic approval. Realize the process design and simulation
based on the process knowledge base, and realize the collaboration between process
design and manufacturing.
e) Leadership level
The auxiliary process innovation reasoning and online independent optimization shall
be realized based on the knowledge base. The dynamic collaboration of information
such as design, process, manufacturing, inspection, operation and maintenance shall be
realized based on big data. A design service platform shall be established relying on
advanced technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence based on the
knowledge base, to realize multi-field, multi-region, and cross-platform comprehensive
collaboration around the industrial chain, and provide instant process design services.
5.5.2.3 GP04 process optimization
Process optimization also adopts the methods of process knowledge accumulation,
excavation, and reasoning, and uses optimization platforms and other technologies to
realize the optimal matching of process routes, parameters, etc., with output, energy
consumption, materials, equipment, etc., and meet customers’ customization needs with
low consumption and high efficiency. Process optimization applies to process
manufacturing.
a) Planned level
Be equipped with a process model and parameters that meet national/industry standards.
b) Specification level
The production process shall run stably and meet requirements for site, safety,
environment, and quality.
c) Integration level
A unit-level process optimization model shall be established to provide corresponding
optimization schemes for abnormal data information on site. Based on the existing
process parameters, process optimization shall be realized by comprehensively
considering yield, quality, energy consumption, environmental protection, operating
conditions, and material balance.
d) Optimization level
A process optimization model for the whole process shall be established. A process
optimization knowledge base for the whole process shall be formed. The whole process
optimization shall be realized based on the process optimization model and knowledge
base.
e) Leadership level
Establish a complete three-dimensional digital simulation model to complete the digital
simulation of the entire production process. Based on advanced information
technologies such as big data analysis and artificial intelligence, realize real-time online
optimization of processes according to the individual needs of different customers.
5.5.3 PA06 procurement management
Material procurement is making enterprises achieve economical and reasonable
inventory to meet the requirements of flexible production through the automatic
perception, prediction and reasonable control of inventory, customer demand,
production plan, etc.
a) Planned level
An information system shall be established, and the system can automatically generate
a master production plan based on constraints such as production quantity and delivery
date. The calculation of MRP shall be realized based on the enterprise’s safety stock,
procurement lead time, production lead time and other restrictive factors.
c) Integration level
The production scheduling shall be carried out based on the finite capacity algorithm
of the theory of constraints, and the detailed production operation plan shall be
automatically generated. According to the customized needs of customers, group the
same or similar parts as much as possible (group technology) for centralized production.
The system shall automatically warn and analyze abnormal situations after dispatching
and scheduling (such as production delays, insufficient production capacity), and
support manual methods to adjust abnormalities.
d) Optimization level
A mathematical model shall be established to analyze and predict the future capacity
load based on the historical data of customers’ individual needs. According to the real
customer demand and production data of the enterprise, balance the detailed capacity
planning, and automatically generate the production scheduling plan that meets various
constraints.
e) Leadership level
Based on big data analysis technology and various intelligent optimization algorithms,
based on a standard working hours database established by various constraints,
establish an advanced planning and scheduling system. The scheduling calculation of
the advanced planning and scheduling system shall provide enterprises with a basis for
gradually optimizing production decisions through continuous “trial calculation”.
5.5.4.2 GP07 production operation
Production operation is to effectively combine production materials, machines and
other production elements and production processes in the best way to form linkage
operations and continuous production to achieve maximum production results and
economic benefits.
a) Planned level
Be equipped with automated and digitalized equipment and production lines, with on-
site control system.
b) Specification level
Be able to use informatization means to send electronic documents such as various
processes and operation instructions to the production unit, so as to realize the data
collection of personnel, machines, materials and other resources.
c) Integration level
Be able to realize the business integration of resource management, process route,
production operation, warehousing and distribution, collect and store real-time data
information of the production process, and provide real-time updated analysis results
of the manufacturing process.
d) Optimization level
The three-dimensional electronic operation guidance, operating parameters and
production instructions in the production process shall be automatically sent to the
digital equipment through information system integration. Enterprises shall realize the
automatic collection and online optimization of production operation data, and adjust
the production process, workstations and production line layout according to the
optimization results. According to the different customization needs of customers,
enterprises shall establish information systems to optimize on-site management
decisions.
e) Leadership level
The simulation of the whole production process shall be realized based on big data
technology, and the production operation model shall be optimized to meet the
individualized and flexible production needs. A production command center shall be
established to realize visual monitoring of the production site and guide production
operations. Smart devices, Internet of Things and big data technologies shall be used to
realize unmanned or less-humanized production operations.
5.5.5 PA08 logistics management
5.5.5.1 GP08 warehousing and distribution
Warehousing and distribution refers to the storage and logistics of materials in the
factory, the use of identification and recognition technology, automated transmission
lines, information management methods, etc., to realize the identification and
classification of raw materials, semi-finished products, etc., data collection,
transportation and storage location management, and automatically complete the pick-
up and delivery tasks of parts.
a) Planned level
Be able to realize the inventory and inventory management of raw materials,
intermediate goods, and finished products based on the information management
system.
b) Specification level
Be able to use barcode, two-dimensional code, RFID, etc. to realize the digital
identification of raw materials, intermediate goods, finished products, etc., and realize

Realize order management, plan scheduling, information tracking and capacity resource
management through the information system.
c) Integration level
Realize the integration of outbound and transportation processes, realize multimodal

technologies shall be used to realize the whole process of cargo tracking, and to grasp
the cargo information anytime and anywhere.
e) Leadership level
Technologies such as RFID and the Internet of Things shall be used to realize the
smooth logistics information chain. The whole logistics process shall be monitored
through technologies such as video surveillance and communication networks, so that
enterprises and customers can check the location and status of items anytime, anywhere.
5.5.6 PA09 after-sales service
Product service is to use technologies such as data mining and intelligent analysis to
capture and analyze the individual needs of users, provide services to users more
actively, accurately and efficiently, and develop in the direction of on-demand and
active services.
a) Planned level
Set up a product service department to manage customer demand information for
products through information technology.
b) Specification level
Be equipped with a standardized product service management system, conduct product
service management through the information system, and feedback product service
information to relevant departments to guide product process improvement.
