Stationery and sport products and parts - General
requirements on volatile organic compounds (VOC)
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the limit requirements, sample preparation (sampling)
rules, test methods and arbitration rules on volatile organic compounds (VOC)
of stationery and sport products and parts.
This Standard applies to related stationery and sports products in C241 and
C244 of category C (manufacturing) in GB/T 4754-2017, such as balls and
equipment, gymnastics equipment, track and field equipment, weightlifting
equipment, water (ice and snow) sports equipment, fitness equipment, archery
equipment, fencing equipment, martial arts equipment, camping and
mountaineering equipment, fishing equipment, sports protective equipment,
various sports equipment parts in sports equipment, and rubber and plastic
stationery, metal stationery, student stationery, playing cards, painting materials,
paper products, office stationery and other related stationery products and parts
of various materials and purposes.
This Standard does not apply to hide, rubber, and leather inflatable sports balls,
nor does it apply to table tennis equipment and parts.
2 Normative references
The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document.
For dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For
undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this
document.
GB/T 4754-2017, Industrial classification for national economic activities
GB 18580, Indoor decorating and refurbishing materials - Limit of
formaldehyde emission of wood-based panels and finishing products
GB 21027, Request in common use of security for student's articles
GB/T 32613-2016, Determination of chlorohydrocarbon in correction
stationery - Gas chromatographic method
GB/T 35456, Stationery and sport products and its parts - Test method for
volatile organic compounds (VOC)
The limits of volatile organic compounds (VOC) content in stationery and sports
products for children shall meet the relevant requirements in GB 21027.
5.3 Other requirements
Stationery and sport products and parts shall not contain volatile chlorinated
hydrocarbons.
Note: Volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons include: dichloromethane, 1,1-
dichloroethane, 1,2-dichloroethane, trichloromethane, 1,1,1-
trichloroethane, 1,1,2-trichloroethane, carbon tetrachloride,
trichloroethylene and other chlorinated hydrocarbons that meet the
definition of volatile organic compounds.
6 Sample preparation (sampling) rules
6.1 When the sample is tested for VOC content, the sample preparation
(sampling) of the to-be-tested sample can be carried out according to the
different conditions of "solid sample" and "liquid sample", and in accordance
with the relevant requirements of GB/T 35456.
6.2 When the sample is subjected to volatile organic compound emissions
determination, in principle, it is not suitable to cut, slice, smash and damage the
sample in other physical ways. For larger stationery and sports products
(especially larger sports equipment), VOC-containing parts and components
shall be specifically selected for testing; for smaller stationery and sports
products, the overall test shall be carried out during the measurement.
6.3 When samples are tested for volatile organic compound emissions, the start
date of the test shall not be less than 15 days from the sample production date.
7 Test method
7.1 The volatile organic compound emissions test of stationery and sports
products and the volatile organic compound content test of stationery and
sports products for adults shall be conducted in accordance with the relevant
requirements in GB/T 35456. Among them, the volatile organic compound
emissions test of artificial board products in stationery and sports products is
performed according to the test conditions that are specified in GB 18580.
7.2 The volatile organic compound content test of stationery and sports
products for children shall be performed in accordance with the relevant test
methods in GB 21027.
