1 Scope
This Standard specifies the method summary, reagent materials, apparatus,
determination procedures, calculation of results, method precision and calculation
method for combustible carbon for the determination of total carbon and carbonate
carbon in solid residues from coal and coke.
This Standard applies to the solid residues from coal and coke.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
solid residues from coal and coke
Solid matters produced from the combustion or reaction of coal or coke.
5 Reagent materials
5.1 The reagent materials for the determination of total carbon using the gravimetric
method shall be as required in GB/T 476.
5.2 The reagent materials for the determination of total carbon using the instrumental
method shall be as required in GB/T 30733.
5.3 The reagent materials for the determination of carbonate carbon shall be as
required in GB/T 218.
6 Apparatus
6.1 The apparatus for the determination of total carbon using the gravimetric method
shall be as required in GB/T 476.
6.2 The apparatus for the determination of total carbon using the instrumental method
shall be as required in GB/T 30733.
6.3 The apparatus for the determination of carbonate carbon shall be as required in
GB/T 218.
7 Determination procedures
7.1 Determination of total carbon
Determine the content of total carbon in sample as specified in GB/T 476 and GB/T
30733. GB/T 476 is the arbitration method.
7.2 Determination of carbonate carbon
The content of carbonate oxygen dioxide in sample is determined as specified in GB/T
218; then the content of carbon dioxide is converted into the content of carbonate (see
8.2).
8 Calculation of results
8.1 Total carbon
The content of total carbon in sample is calculated as specified in GB/T 476 or GB/T
30733.
