This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, general technical
requirements of disassembly, classification and cleaning, testing and repair of
major parts, assembly, performance requirements, inspection requirements,
and packaging acceptance for the remanufacturing of spark and compression
ignition engines.
This Standard is applicable to the remanufacturing of automotive spark and
compression ignition engines. The remanufacturing of other engines can be
implemented by reference.

4 Disassembly, classification, and cleaning
4.1 Disassembly
4.1.1 The engine shall be completely disassembled to facilitate further
classified disassembly and remanufacturing.
4.1.2 The disassembly of the engine shall comply with the provisions of GB/T
28675.
4.1.3 At the time of disassembly, it is initially determined whether the main
parts are suitable for remanufacturing.
5.4.5 The repaired crankshaft shall be tested for dynamic balance.
5.5 Camshaft assembly
5.5.1 TEST the damage of the camshaft. MEASURE the coaxiality of each
journal, size and abrasion loss of the journal. CHECK the cam profile.
5.5.2 TEST the camshaft follower surface.
5.6 Connecting rod
5.6.1 TEST the big-end bearing seat for damage. MEASURE the cylindricity.
5.6.2 TEST the connecting rod binding surface. The oil duct is deburred and
thoroughly cleaned.
5.6.3 TEST the degree of parallelism and torsion resistance of the connecting
rod. When the degree of parallelism and torsion resistance are out of tolerance
and not greater than 2 times the tolerance, it is allowed to restore the original
accuracy by means of straightening. Flaw detection shall be carried out after
straightening.
5.6.4 ENSURE that the dimensions of the bushing seat are within the
specified limits. Small-end bushing is repaired or new parts are used so that the
clearance between the piston pin and the bushing satisfies the corresponding
performance requirements of the original product.
5.6.5 Connecting rods are grouped by weight as required, except for powder
metallurgy connecting rods.
5.7 Oil pump
5.7.1 TEST the internal damage to the oil pump. MEASURE the clearance
between the rotor and the pump body. DISASSEMBLE and CLEAN the safety
valve. All parts with indeterminate performance shall be repaired or replaced
with new ones.
5.7.2 TEST the performance of the oil pump.
5.8 Water pump
5.8.1 TEST the performance of the water pump. REMOVE internal scale and
rust.
5.8.2 TEST the impeller of the water pump.
5.8.3 TEST the airtightness of the water pump.
5.8.4 TEST other parts of the water pump, such as water pump shaft.
6 Assembly
6.1 Before assembly, CLEAN the cylinder block, cylinder head, crankshaft,
camshaft, connecting rod and other related parts, so as to ensure that the
assembly components meet the product cleanliness requirements.
6.2 The remanufactured engine assembly shall comply with the provisions of
GB/T 28679.
6.3 PAY attention to the assembly sequence of the fasteners when
assembling. The tightening torque meets the remanufacturer’s design
requirements. When assembling, TEST the fit clearance of the remanufactured
engine, projection height at the top dead center of the piston, valve timing, fuel
supply advance angle, valve clearance, crankshaft axial clearance, selection of
connecting rod grouping, etc.
6.4 In accordance with relevant national regulations, the remanufactured
engine number shall be reprinted on the cylinder block, and the remanufactured
product mark is indicated on the engine.
7 Remanufactured engine performance requirements
7.1 The airtightness is in good condition, with no water leakage, oil leakage,
or air leakage.
7.2 The starting performance shall be tested in accordance with the GB/T
18297, and in compliance with the requirements for the prototype product.
7.3 The fluctuation rate at low idle speed shall not be greater than 5%. The
test shall be carried out according to GB/T 18297, and shall meet the
requirements for the prototype product.
7.4 The allowable error of the fuel consumption rate at rated power shall be
tested in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 18297, and shall meet the
requirements for the prototype product.
7.5 The maximum net power tolerance and the maximum net torque tolerance
shall be tested in accordance with GB/T 17692, and shall meet the
requirements for the prototype product.
7.6 The minimum fuel consumption rate tolerance for total power test shall be
tested in accordance with GB/T 18297, and shall meet the requirements for the
prototype product.
7.7 The steady-state speed governing rate shall comply with the
remanufacturer’s provisions.
