Periodic inspection and evaluation of cryogenic insulated
cylinders
1 Scope
This standard specifies the basic methods and technical requirements, for periodic
inspection and evaluation of in-use cryogenic insulated cylinders (including welded
thermal insulation gas cylinders and automotive liquefied natural gas cylinders).
This standard is applicable to the periodic inspection and evaluation of the refillable
welded insulated gas cylinders -- which are used under normal ambient temperature (-
40 °C ~ 60 °C), whose medium is liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, liquid argon, liquid
carbon dioxide, liquid nitrous oxide, liquefied natural gas and other cryogenic liquids,
whose design temperature is not higher than -196 °C, whose nominal working pressure
is 0.2 MPa ~ 3.5 MPa. This standard is also applicable to the periodic inspection and
evaluation of the refillable welded insulated gas cylinders for automobile use -- which
is used at normal ambient temperature (-40 °C ~ 60 °C), whose medium is liquefied
natural gas, which is used as an automobile fuel tank, whose design temperature is not
higher than -196 °C, whose nominal working pressure is 0.6 MPa ~ 3.5 MPa.
