3 Test Methods of Cleanliness
3.1 Test Method of Hydrogen and Slag Content
3.1.1 Test method of hydrogen content
3.1.1.1 Test method of hydrogen in liquid state
In the launder between the outlet of the degassing device and the gating system, conduct on-
line testing of hydrogen. The test method of hydrogen shall comply with the stipulations of
YS/T 600.
3.1.1.2 Test method of hydrogen in solid state
The test method of hydrogen in solid state shall comply with the stipulations of GJB 5909.
3.1.2 Test method of slag content
3.1.2.1 Online slag test method
LIMCA online slag tester1) should be used to test the melt inclusion content in the launder before
casting. The test method shall comply with the instructions of the slag tester.
3.1.2.2 Offline slag test method
PoDFA offline slag tester1) should be used to test the melt inclusion content in the launder before
casting. The test method shall comply with the instructions of the slag tester.
3.1.2.3 Macrostructure test method
3.1.2.3.1 Rectangular ingots: for each melting, randomly choose one piece of ingot. In
accordance with the stipulations of Table 3 in YS/T 590-2012, cut off the head and tail, then,
respectively cut macrostructure specimens with a thickness of 20 mm ~ 30 mm from both ends
of the ingot. Other requirements shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 3246.2.
3.1.2.3.2 Columniform ingots: for each casting, take at least one piece of ingot (for each melting,
take at least two pieces of ingot). In accordance with the stipulations of Table 3 in YS/T 67-
2012, cut off the head and tail, then, respectively cut macrostructure specimens with a thickness
of 20 mm ~ 30 mm from both ends of the ingot. Other requirements shall comply with the
stipulations of GB/T 3246.2.
3.1.2.4 Microstructure test method
3.1.2.4.1 For each melting, randomly choose one piece of ingot. For columniform ingots, in
accordance with the stipulations of Table 3 in YS/T 67-2012, cut off the head and tail; for
rectangular ingots, in accordance with the stipulations of Table 3 in YS/T 590-2012, cut off the
head and tail. From any end of the ingot after cutting off the head and tail, cut a specimen blank
with a thickness of 20 mm ~ 30 mm.
3.1.2.4.2 At 1/2 radius of the cross-section of the columniform ingot specimen blank and at the
