Silicon metal 1 Scope This document specifies the classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, quality certificate and order (or contract) contents of silicon metal. This document applies to silicon metal produced by smelting carbonaceous reducing agents and silica in a submerged arc furnace, which is mainly used for preparing alloys, producing polysilicon and producing organic silicon. 2 Normative references The following documents are referred to in the text in such a way that some or all of their content constitutes requirements of this document. For dated references, only the version corresponding to that date is applicable to this document; for undated references, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document. GB/T 8170, Rules of rounding off for numerical values & expression and judgment of limiting values GB/T 14849 (all parts), Methods for chemical analysis of silicon metal 3 Terms and definitions No terms and definitions need to be defined in this document. 4 Classification Silicon metal is classified according to its chemical composition. The designation is expressed in the form of a combination of the silicon element symbol and a 4-digit number (or letter). The expression method is shown in Appendix A. 5 Technical requirements 5.1 Chemical composition 5.1.1 Main impurity elements 7.1.2 The demander shall inspect the received products in accordance with the provisions of this document. If the inspection results are inconsistent with the provisions of this document and the purchase order (or contract), the demander shall submit a written report to the supplier for negotiation. Any objection to particle size, appearance, or chemical composition shall be raised within 30 days from the date of receipt of the product. If arbitration is required, the supply and demand parties shall jointly conduct arbitration sampling. 7.2 Batching Silicon metal shall be submitted for inspection in batches. Each batch shall consist of products of the same designation and the batch weight shall not exceed 60 t. 7.3 Weight Silicon metal shall be weighed on the scales. 7.4 Inspection items Each batch of products shall be inspected for main impurity element content, particle size and appearance quality. When required by the order (or contract), special items such as trace element content shall also be inspected. 7.5 Chemical composition sampling and sample preparation 7.5.1 Arbitration sampling and sample preparation 7.5.1.1 Sampling volume Samples shall be taken from each batch of products by heat, with no less than one package from each heat; a small sample of no less than 0.3% by weight shall be taken from each package. 7.5.1.2 Sampling method Use a sampling shovel that meets the requirements of Figure 1 to take samples from the top, middle and bottom of the package. Crush the sample to a particle size of no more than 5 mm and then use a divider to reduce it, so that the sample after reduction is no less than 3 000 g. Then crush it to no more than 1 mm and use a divider to reduce it to 400 g as the analysis sample. Use a magnet to remove the iron powder from the analysis sample and use a tungsten carbide grinding box to prepare the sample. After the sample is prepared, all the samples shall pass through a 0.149 mm standard sieve. Then divide the sample into three parts, one for the supplier, one for the demander, and one for the arbitration. Dimensions in millimeters c) designation; d) number of this document; e) batch number; f) net weight. 8.2 Packaging, transportation, storage Silicon metal packaging shall be moisture-proof and is generally packaged in plastic woven bags, with a net weight of 1 000 kg per piece. If other forms of packaging are required, the supply and demand parties can negotiate and confirm and specify them in the order form (contract). The product shall be protected from rain or moisture during transportation and storage. 8.3 Quality certificate Each batch of products shall be accompanied by a product quality certificate, which shall state. a) product name; b) supplier’s information; c) designation; d) batch number; e) weight and number of pieces; f) analytical inspection results and stamp of the supplier’s technical (quality) inspection department; g) number of this document; h) date of manufacture or packaging. 9 Order form (or contract) contents An order form (or contract) for the products listed in this document may include the following. a) product name; b) designation; c) weight; ......
