Foreword
This standard is corresponding to Windshield Cleaning Fluids for Automobile (JIS K
2398. 2001) but it is non-equivalent to JIS K 2398. 2001.
The main technical differences between this standard and JIS K 2398 are as follows.
——the appearance inspection items were added;
——the non-water-repellent products in JIS K 2398 were classified into ordinary type
and low temperature type by freezing point to adapt to the characteristics of vast territory and
complicated climate conditions of China;
——the Kanto powder only existing in Japan was replaced by kieselguhr in Appendix A.
Appendixes A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I of this standard are all normative.
This standard was proposed by and is under the jurisdiction of National Technical
Committee on Automobile Maintenance of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC
247).
Drafting organizations of this standard. Research Institute of Highway under Ministry of
Transport, Zhangjiagang TEEC Automotive Chemicals Co., Ltd. and Beijing Furunda
Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.
Chief drafters of this standard. Liu Li, Jiao Jian, Yang Dongming, Zhang Yang, Cao
Yunlong, Wang Jing and Tao Dianbin.

3 Terminologies and Definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terminologies and definitions apply
3.1
Cleaning fluids for automotive windshield
Liquid jointly used with automotive wiper to remove the contaminants on the surface of
automotive windshield.
3.2
Original fluids
Cleaning fluids for automotive windshield directly taken out of the product packaging
container.
3.3
Minimum concentration for use
Concentration (volume ratio) at the maximum permissible water addition indicated on
the packaging container.
3.4
Non-water-repellent cleaning fluids
Cleaning fluids with alcohols, water and surface active agents as main components.
3.5
Water-repellent cleaning fluids
Cleaning fluids with silicone resins as main components.
4 Technical Requirements and Test Methods
As for this standard, the cleaning fluids for automotive windshield are classified into
non-water-repellent and water-repellent types by main components; non-water-repellent
cleaning fluids for automotive windshield are classified into ordinary type and low
temperature type by freezing point. See Table 1 for technical requirements and test methods
of cleaning fluids for automotive windshield.
Appendix A
(Normative)
Cleaning Fluids Appearance Quality Inspection Method
A.1 Scope
This method is applicable to evaluating the appearance quality of cleaning fluids.
A.2 Method summary
After leaving the cleaning fluid sample standstill at specified temperature for a certain
period, visually inspect whether the cleaning fluid sample is homogeneous liquid.
A.3 Instrument
Measuring cylinder with plug. 100 mL.
A.4 Test procedures
A.4.1 Sufficiently shake well the cleaning fluids in original packaging container, measure
100 mL of cleaning fluid sample by using measuring cylinder with plug and cover the plug.
A.4.2 Leave the measuring cylinder at 15℃~35℃ for 24 h, and visually inspect whether
the cleaning fluid sample is homogeneous and whether there is such phenomenon as layering
or deposit.
A.5 Report
Report the appearance of the sample.
Appendix B
(Normative)
