Foreword
This Standard replaces GB/T 13314-1991 "General specifications of forged steel
working rolls for cold rolling" and GB/T 13315-1991 "Method of ultrasonic inspection
for forged steel cold rolling working rolls".
The contents of GB/T 13314-1991 and GB/T 13315-1991 were combined and revised
into this Standard. Compared with GB/T 13314-1991, the main changes in this Standard
are as follows.
- Add "Foreword";
- Modify the content of "Scope";
- Supplement and adjust the normative references;
- In Table 1, add two designations. 8Cr3MoV, 8Cr5Mov. Delete uncommon
materials. 8CrMoV, 9Cr2W;
- In Article 4.5, delete Rockwell and Vickers hardness;
- In Articles 3.6.4 and 3.6.5, delete the definitions for hardness uniformity of roll
body and depth of hardened layer of roll body. Add GB/T 15546 as reference;
- In Table 4, modify the definitions for soft belt width. Correspondingly modify the
allowable soft band width;
- In Table 5, add hardened layer depth for 8Cr3MoV, 8Cr5Mov;
- Delete GB/T 13315 as reference. Use it as a normative annex of this Standard (see
Annex A Ultrasonic flaw detection method for forged steel work rolls for cold
rolling). Based on the content of GB/T 13315-1991, add "Scope", the relationship
between detection distance and gain increment for adjusting flaw detection
sensitivity and some content of "Classification of flaw detection results". Adjust
and redefine the terms. Delete Annex B. Appropriately adjust the arrangement of
elements;
- Incorporate Annex A Classification of flaw detection results in GB/T 13315-1991
into "A.8 Evaluation of flaw detection results" of this Standard;
- Take Annex C Recording methods for defects in GB/T 13315-1991 as Annex B of
this Standard.
Annex A of this Standard is normative. Annex B is informative.
This Standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of China Metallurgical Group Beijing
Metallurgical Equipment Research and Design Institute.
The drafting organizations of this Standard. Baosteel Group Changzhou Roll
Manufacturing Company that is mainly responsible for the "General technical
conditions" part; Sinosteel Hengyang Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. that is mainly
responsible for the "Ultrasonic flaw detection method" part.

General specifications of forged steel work rolls for cold
rolling
1 Scope
This Standard specifies technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules for
forged alloy steel work rolls for cold rolled metal.
This Standard applies to integral forged alloy steel work rolls for cold rolling and
intermediate rolls used in cold-rolling mills such as sheet metal (strip) (hereinafter
referred to as the cold-rolling rolls). The cold-rolling rolls manufactured by other
methods can also use this Standard as reference.
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard through
reference in this Standard. For dated references, the subsequent amendments (excluding
corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Standard, however, parties who reach an
agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest versions of these
documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced
document applies.
GB/T 223.5, Steel and iron - Determination of acid-soluble silicon and total silicon
content - Reduced molybdosilicate spectrophotometric method
GB/T 223.11, Iron, steel and alloy - Determination of chromium content - Visual
titration or potentiometric titration method
GB/T 223.14, Methods for chemical analysis of iron, steel and alloy - The N-benzoyl-
N-phenylhydroxylamine extraction photometric method for the determination of
vanadium content
3 Technical requirements
3.1 The cold-rolling rolls shall comply with this Standard and the agreement between
the supplier and the purchaser (drawings, agreements and so on).
3.2 The designations and chemical compositions of the cold-rolling rolls are
recommended as specified in Table 1.Other designations or chemical compositions
agreed upon by both parties can also be used. The allowable deviation of the chemical
composition of the roll blank or finished product analysis shall comply with the
provisions of GB/T 15547.
3.6 Cold-rolling roll hardness and hardened layer depth
3.6.1 The surface hardness of the cold-rolling roll body shall be negotiated by both the
supplier and the purchaser or shall meet the requirements of Table 2.
3.7 Surface quality of cold-rolling rolls
3.7.1 Cracks and visually visible pits, non-metallic inclusions, pores and other surface
defects that affect use are not allowed on the working surfaces of the cold-rolling roll
body and neck.
3.8 The shape and position tolerances and dimensional tolerances of the cold-rolling
rolls shall comply with the requirements of the drawings.
4 Test methods
4.1 The chemical composition analysis method shall be implemented in accordance
with the provisions of GB/T 223.
4.2 The chemical composition deviation shall be implemented in accordance with the
provisions of GB/T 15547.
4.4 The network carbide inspection shall be carried out in accordance with the
provisions of GB/T 1299-2000.
4.5 The ultrasonic flaw detection shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions
of Annex A.
4.8 The inspection method for the surface cracks of the cold-rolling roll body shall be
determined by negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser.
5 Inspection rules
5.1 The quality of the cold-rolling rolls shall be inspected by the quality inspection
department of the manufacturer according to this Standard and the agreement between
the supplier and the purchaser.
5.5 The cold-rolling rolls shall be inspected by ultrasonic flaw detection one by one.
5.6 The surface hardness of the cold-rolling roll, the hardness uniformity of the roll
body, and the width of the soft belt shall be inspected piece by piece.
5.7 The depth of the hardened layer of the roll body is guaranteed by the manufacturer's
process. The hardened layer of the same material, heat treatment process, and diameter
can be determined by dissection test, which is a representative test roll. If it is different
from the grinding measurement value, the actual measurement value shall prevail.
5.8 The purchaser shall conduct reinspection within three months after the cold-rolling
rolls arrive.
6 Marking, packaging, transportation and storage
6.1 The cold-rolling rolls that have passed the inspection shall be marked with the
manufacturer's mark and roll number on the end face of the non-transmission end
(optional end of the symmetrical work roll). If the purchaser has special requirements
for marking and roll number, it shall be indicated in the agreement between the supplier
and the purchaser.
6.4 Packaging marks and random documents
6.4.1 Packaging box marks generally include.
6.4.2 For the cold-rolling rolls packed with grid plates, the content of the logo can be
written on light-colored nylon fibers, cotton cloth or galvanized thin iron sheets that are
not easy to fade and durable. Then securely fasten to the outer packaging.
6.4.3 Accompanying documents shall include quality certificate, packing list and so on.
The accompanying documents shall be packed in plastic bags and placed in the box.
The content of the quality certificate generally includes.
6.5 The cold-rolling rolls shall be placed flat in a dry and ventilated warehouse or
workshop.
