GB/T 12537-1990 GB NATIONAL STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA GB/T 12537-90 Replacing GB 1334-77 Motor vehicles - Towing performance - Test method APPROVED ON: DECEMBER 12, 1990 IMPLEMENTED ON: SEPTEMBER 01, 1991 Issued by: State of Bureau of Technical Supervision Table of Contents 1 Subject content and scope of application ... 3  2 Normative references ... 3  3 Terms ... 3  4 Test equipment and instruments ... 3  5 Test conditions ... 4  6 Test methods ... 4  7 Test results ... 5  Additional information ... 7  NATIONAL STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Motor vehicles - Towing performance - Test method 1 Subject content and scope of application This standard specifies the test method for determining the towing performance of motor vehicles. This standard applies to the motor vehicles, which have towing function. 2 Normative references GB/T 12534 Motor vehicles - General rules of road test method 3 Terms 3.1 Traction force of towing hook The traction force measured on the towing hook, when the motor vehicle is driving at a constant speed on a level road. 4 Test equipment and instruments 4.1 Load trailer or general trailer that can apply load. 4.2 Traction rod. 4.3 The automatic recording traction meter, AND the traction force sensor, which has appropriate range, the measurement accuracy is 2%. 4.4 Speed measuring instrument, which has a measuring accuracy of 1%. 4.5 Fuel flow meter, which has a measurement accuracy of 1%. GB/T 12537-90 Replacing GB 1334-77 4.6 Timer, which has a minimum reading of 0.1 s. 5 Test conditions 5.1 The test vehicle shall be loaded, according to the loading mass under the towing condition, which is specified by the manufacturer. 5.2 When determining the maximum traction of towing hook, the tire pressure of the test vehicle shall not be less than the minimum tire pressure, which is specified by the manufacturer. 5.3 Other test conditions shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of GB 12534. 6 Test methods 6.1 Traction performance test 6.1.1 Use the traction rod to connect the test vehicle and the load trailer. The traction rod shall be kept horizontal. If a general trailer is used, the aforementioned connection method shall also be used. During the test, the longitudinal axis of the traction rod is consistent with the driving direction. 6.1.2 When the motor vehicle starts, accelerate and shift to the gear required for the test; fully open the throttle, to accelerate to about 80% of the maximum speed of the gear. The load trailer applies load. Within the speed range of engine during normal operation, measure 5 ~ 6 evenly spaced stable speed AND the traction force of towing hook at that speed. During measurement, the vehicle speed must be stable for more than 10 s. The above procedures are performed once for each round trip. The test data is recorded in the record sheet of traction performance test. When measurement of fuel consumption is used as one of the test contents, install a fuel flow meter on the test vehicle, to measure the fuel consumption. Meanwhile, use a timer to measure the time; record the test results in the sheet. 6.1.3 According to the recorded actual vehicle speed and traction force of towing hook, draw the traction performance curve of each gear. The ratio is as follows: In the performance curve, each 1 mm of vehicle speed is equivalent to 0.5 km/h; The traction force of towing hook can take the following four ratios: ......
