1 Scope
This Standard stipulates the safety requirements for the installation, operation and
maintenance of household and similar electrical appliances.
This Standard is applicable to household and similar electrical appliances.
In terms of appliances operated under special environment, additional requirements
might be needed.
2 Normative References
Through the reference in this Standard, clauses of the following documents become
clauses of this Standard. In terms of references with a specific date, all the subsequent
modification sheets (excluding the corrected content) or the revised editions are not
applicable to this Standard. However, all parties that reach an agreement in
accordance with this Standard are encouraged to explore the possibility of adopting
the latest version of these documents. In terms of references without a specific date,
the latest version is applicable to this Standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this Standard.
Main terminal;
Grounding electrode;
Power grounding point or artificial neutral point.

through stipulated colors.
3.8 Place without Hazard of Indirect Electric Shock
Place without hazard of indirect electric shock means it is impossible for people in this
place to simultaneously touch the exposed live part and any external live part (including
the ground and the wall) of a certain electrical appliance, or, simultaneously touch the
exposed live part of two electrical appliances. Protective grounding is strictly prohibited
in this place.
3.9 Qualified Person
Qualified person refers to person who has received professional and standardized
trainings, has specialized knowledge and skills, and capable of identifying possible
hazards of appliances being installed and maintained; or, person who has professional
qualifications.
4 Classification of Appliances
4.1 Classification by Mode of Electric Shock Protection
Type-0 appliances
Type-0Ⅰ appliances

4.2 Classification by Degrees of Protection Provided by Enclosure
The specific requirements of various degrees are shown in GB 4208 Degrees of
Protection Provided by Enclosure. In terms of household and similar electrical
appliances, the following degrees are recommended:
6.8 In installation, firstly, examine user’s safe utilization of electric power. The main
items of this examination include: correct and reliable connection of the live wire and
naught wire of power outlet; reliability of the grounding system; whether switch, electric
meter capacity, power line load and the selection of line materials and specifications
comply with the standard requirements, etc. If potential safety hazards are found,
immediately propose it to the user; suggest the user to adopt countermeasures as
soon as possible. If power supply needs to be modified, obtain the user’s consent, then,
implement it by personnel with electrical work qualification.
6.9 In terms of appliances that need to drill holes on the wall, before installation,
thoroughly examine and understand the direction of water pipes and electric wires in
the wall. The drilling shall avoid the locations of water pipes and electric wires in the
wall; prevent from destroying the building’s load-bearing structure.
6.10 During the installation of appliances, welding and cutting of metals shall not be
conducted on the site.
6.11 After the installation of appliances is completed, conduct electrical installation
inspection on the installed appliances and power supply.
7 Operation of Appliances
7.1 Operators of appliances shall meticulously read and understand the instructions
for use; operate the appliances in accordance with the requirements in the instructions
for use.
7.2 Power plugs of appliances shall be completely inserted into a fixated power outlet.
In addition, guarantee the proper contact between the power plugs and the outlet.
7.3 When power outlet terminal board needs to be used, power outlet terminal board
that complies with the requirements in GB 2099.1 shall be used. The total rated current
value of the connected appliances shall not exceed the rated current value of the
previous fixated outlet or circuit.
7.4 Power shall not be introduced from lamp cap with outlet and supplied to appliances.
7.5 In terms of appliances without automatic control, when personnel leave the site,
the power shall be cut off.
7.6 Appliances that would generate high temperature in operation shall not be placed
near flammable and explosive articles, or similar environment.
7.7 When appliances manifest abnormal noise, odor, temperature or failure,
immediately stop using them; turn off the switch; cut off the power supply.
7.8 Operators shall not disassemble appliances, or, alter the internal wiring,
